I stayed at the River Palace Hotel with my grand-daughter for a week. The room was spacious and clean. The staff was friendly and ready to help with suggestions and directions. The hotel is located less than a block away from the train station. Great restaurants in the area. The breakfast was fantastic with a great selections of cereals, fruits, etc. Will go back for sure when visiting Rome again.

Easy to find and easy walk to the main attractions in the city. What a city!

The breakfast is superb, the rooms small (as per any city in Europe) but perfect. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and provided us with everything we needed.

The happy hour with food was greatly appreciated.

Have already recommended the hotel to friends and would definitely return.

Thank you River Palace.

We stayed here September 2010 for two nights and were very pleased. As first time travellers, I had booked this hotel based on the reviews here on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. Our room was clean and comfortable and the staff were fantastic to deal with - they could not help you enough and were very courteous. We took advantage of the happy hour at the bar each evening which gave us the opportunity to meet other guests which was great also. Location was perfect, with the hop-on-hop-off bus tours (a must!!) only a short walk away. We found access to things really easy and the hotel was also quite easy to find. Leaving Rome we took advantage of the limousine service to the airport and this removed the pressure of finding our way and negotiating time. We were happy to pay that little bit extra for the reassurance. The driver was fantastic, practically giving us a tour on the way pointing out places of interest. We are heading back over next year for the summer and would be very happy to stay here once again. The only downside was that the elevator was not working at the time but I'm sure it is fine now.

Just got back from our stay at the River Palace Hotel and overall, my experience at the hotel was good.

The room was very clean and the bedding was very comfortable. The washroom was quite nice as well. Breakfast was very good. There was a good variety of meats, cheese, pastries, yogurts etc.

The wifi connection was terrible- we had to use the computers downstairs in the lobby which were often very busy.

The hotel is on a quiet street so there were no issues with noise however, the area that the hotel is located in looks a bit run down. You should be aware that It is NOT in a very central location. Most of the tour buses would not pick us up or take us to the hotel because it was too far. With that said, it is very close to the metro and close to the Piazza de Popolo and not too far from the Spanish steps. It was a long ways away from the other big attractions.

We have just returned from the River Palace on a four day trip to celebrate our 10th anniversary.

We found all the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly and they could not do enough to make our trip pleasurable and smooth. As most reviews state here the breakfast was fantastic with pastries, croissants, cooked breakfast, yoghurt, cheese, flans, fresh fruit, smoked salmon, champagne, juice, tea and coffee available every morning - What a great start to any day!

The happy hour was great as otherwise drinks would be pretty expensive, but all were half price between 6-10, great after a long, hot day on the tourist trail. Bar provides all manner of snacks including sandwiches, olives, corn snacks, crisps, pastries for free around late afternoon, early evening every day we were there which were welcome in the 'hungry period' between lunch and evening meal!

The location was great with everything being walkable. Colloseum and Vatican are a longer walk at around 45 minutes but the Spanish Steps are 5-10 minutes along with the Borghese Park. Piaza Popolo is 2 mins along the road. The Trevi Fountain is about 20-25 minutes walk.

We had a deluxe room which was great for us although, yes, a little smaller than most English rooms. We really only slept in our room as there was so much to see outside. It had a TV, desk, wardrobe, drawers, safe and minibar. The bathroom was absolutely fine with a shower over the bath and a glass screen. All very clean with beautiful bed linen.

The only negative we found, which has nothing to do with the hotel, was it was very difficult to find somewhere decent to eat. Be careful of any restaurants on the street with nice canopies over (there are lots of them), we ate in these once or twice and it cost us a fortune for pizza which was no better than here in the UK! One lovely restaurant was 'Porto di Ripetta' which was recommended to us by the hotel staff and is only 5 minutes walk away and serves lovely food at a reasonable price. It's best not to eat in any restaurants near the major attractions.

All in all, brilliant!

Room Tip: Book Deluxe room.

We booked this hotel in December 2010 for our June 2011 trip. When we arrived to check in, they took our luggage and escorted us to the lobby lounge area where we were told that someone would be with us to tour the hotel in a couple of minutes. After waiting over half an hour we go back to the desk and are told that they overbooked and are looking for a room for us at another hotel. After another half hour we are finally told that they found us another room at an equivalent hotel. Well, their equivalent hotel had peeling wallpaper, stained carpet, tile pulling off the wall, chipped furniture, moldy caulk in the tub, and the room smelled. They know how to take the reservation-they just don't know how to keep the reservation. And to keep a customer waiting after you misled them is not right. Even less right is dumping them in an inferior hotel when you do it.

Dear TripAdvisor Member,

I'm very sorry that the Giulio Cesare Hotel, which is walking distance hotel right across the Tiber river did not met your expectations. The Giulio Cesare is a 4 stars hotel with a strong reputation. The hotel is close to the metro stations as well as we are. The classic style of the hotel is very close to the River Palace style. We did our best to find the best solution possible. I'm sorry for the inconvenience of being reallocated to another hotel. This situation was due to a fault into our reservation system. It has been our fault, and we are taking the full responsibility of this situation. We payed the cab + the difference of the new hotel.
Should you need any additional information please feel free to contact me anytime.
We are more than glad to offer a free upgrade in our suite "Villa Borghese" (upon availability) during your next stay at the River Palace Hotel.

Hope to see you in the near future!
