“Not Ideal”

I learned from experience to never stay at a 3 star in Europe. Rooms were cold with no carpeting. Very old hotel with old carpets in corridor. Good it was only a stay for a few hours as a stopover night.

The hotel was not bad for a 3-star -

Front desk employees were friendly, breakfast buffet was nice and room was small but adequate.

The hotel is located near the train station which is in a sketchy part of town - stay away!

BEWARE: The train station its loaded with gypsies - we were warned and learned the hard way!

Probably would NOT return to Rome because my husband and I were harassed by beggars, gypsies and peddlers 24/7 - I should explain that the beggars and peddlers were NOT Italian BUT the gypsies ARE! However, the Italian people know what is going on, BUT they turn their heads.....

BEWARE of an older Italian gentlemen dressed in a suit at the train station and the young italian women asking if you need help - they are GYPSIES - they don't take NO for an answer - we were victims ......

Also, were we ripped off at a restaurant near the hotel - my husband asked our waiter to make change because we wanted to leave him a tip, he kept some of the $$ saying he didn't charge us for something we ordered???? You have to be on guard at all times ......

If we were to return to Rome we would NOT return to the Milani (not because of the hotel) BUT because of the area.

My husband and I have stayed at the Milani twice. Both times we were there for a number of nights. It is a solid hotel providing clean rooms in a convenient neighborhood. It is a block or two from Termini Station providing great access to rail, subway and bus service. The station also includes a grocery store (for some reason it has signs that call it a drive store?) , restaurants, fast food and retail stores. We also took advantage of a very active taxi stand that was at the end of the street. There are many places to eat with in a few blocks. The breakfast room was just ok. While there were hot eggs and meat....few liked the looks of them enough to try them. Hard boiled eggs, ham and cheese were good.

Room Tip: We had a room with an electronic key. Other guests were carrying around big, old fashioned keys. My...

Hotel Milani is only 1 block from Roma Termini making it an ideal hotel for us. Being close to the hop-on-hop-off bus made getting around Rome so much easier. We didn't have a fridge in our room but everything else was O.K. Staff were helpful in organising tours etc. My Wi-Fi could only be used in the foyer, but no problem, plenty of soft lounges to sit on.

Last July I stayed one night in this hotel (single).
When I booked I asked for a quiet room and it turned out I got a double room at the last floor for the price of a single one. The bathroom was fine, with a large and renewed shower (after 15 years of hotel experiences in Rome: large showers are not very common in a 3-stars hotel !). Room and bathroom were very clean.
I had to get the train to the airport at 7.22 a.m. and - as it really takes only 4 minutes on foot to the railway station - I even managed to have breakfast.
Overall: very good service for what you pay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the last floor.

We were re-routed to this hotel because our booked hotel let us down. As it turned out we had the better deal as this hotel is higher rated.
On arrival the reception was cheerful and quite happily showed us up to check the room out.
Accommodation was good for Rome and the room was well cleaned daily, with daily changes to towels, soaps etc etc and to all linen.
Breakfast was adequate, food fresh and plentiful and covered all the ususal foods etc. The only gripe was the scrambled egg and coffee which management needs to get a grip on.
Location just a couple of blocks fromTermini was what we wanted and the street is really quiet for a City centre.
If we were to visit Rome again in the near future we would definately book with confidence

Stayed for three nights and found this hotel to be good value for the money. Good location near the Termini station. Close to good restaurants. Found the staff helpful and wifi in lobby and free baggage storage on last day very useful. Rooms a little dated but cleaned and made up daily. Breakfast although basic was good especially the custard donuts and variety of pastries. Asked for extra pillow as they were quite hard and a delightful young girl from the room staff brought a nice soft pillow.
