“day trip to Asissi from Rome”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

Booked a day trip to Asissi for myself, wife and grandson. Taxi was a large comfortable Mercedez people carrier and arrived exactly on time(8am.) at hotel. The driver spoke excellent English and was courteous, knowledgeable and very informative throughout the whole day. We were never rushed and given a deadline to meet at any of the churches and places we visited . We were told to take as long as we wanted and the driver would be there waiting for us. He even took us to a lovely little Trattoria in the square in Asissi where we had lunch, again no deadline to meet told to take our time.I cannot recommend this company highly enough, the final touch was on arriving back at the hotel in Rome , he presented us with a courtesy bottle of limoncello liqueur . A great driver, a great tour company and a great day out. If you want to book a tour when in Rome use this company, you will not be disappointed.

“Excellent Day Tours of Rome and Italian Countryside”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

I booked two day tours with Stefano Rome Day Tours while in Rome for four days. I highly recommend them for personal, enthusiastic, informed, courteous service. Both days the drivers, Massimo and Sergio, were at the hotel promptly and with a welcoming smile. The vehicles used were lovely, comfortable Mercedes sedans. My tour of Christian Rome with Massimo included the most popular and well known churches and basilicas in the city - St. Paul's Outside the Walls, St. Peter in Chains, the Pantheon, the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's. Massimo also included several other lesser known churches that were just as fascinating. At every stop I had plenty of time to wander through the churches and gaze in awe at the alters and artwork. I had requested a personal guide for the tour of the Vatican museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's. Raphaella was worth the price for the two-hour tour. She was personable, knowledgable, and enthusiastic about what we were seeing. She really made the masterpieces come alive. My tour of Cervici (?), Fumone, and Anagni with Sergio was just as enjoyable. It was a great combination of three different small towns outside of Rome with different attractions and even better - no crowds! I highly recommend this tour. I will be back to Italy and plan on using Stefano Rome Day Tours again.

“6 star service in Roma”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

Where do I start? We booked with Stefano Rome tours before our cruise with MSC, and We are so very happy we booked with Stefan rather than take a bus tour. First of all Sylvestor the driver was waiting for us when the ship pulled in, the car was a mercedes Viano so you are touring in style. From the moment you meet your driver you are at ease and pampered, just sit back and let the driver do his thing. You will be educated on Rome and other places along the way. We went thru streets that you will never go thru if you took a tour bus or on your own. I been to Rome before but never seen Rome like this. It was an awesome experience and we will book again. Sylvestor also made reservations ahead of time for us at a resturant and it was packed so there was no waiting. If you go to Roma and want to see all the sights uin comfort and treated kindly then please book with Stefano Rome tours. if you have any questions feel free to contact them.
also the lemoncello was a nice surprise. A perfect end to a perfect day trip, best tour i ever taken anywhere. J. Knecht Manager of Celtic World Travel Magazine

“Rome and Pisa/Florence”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

One of our party had pre-booked two tours: one to Rome, the other to Pisa/Florence, and to be honest, as a regular business traveller to Italy, I was more than a bit sceptical as to why we needed transportation and tour guides in the first place.....

Our party consisted of four couples away on a week's cruise around the Med to celebrate a birthday, two of the ports of call were Civitavecchia (for Rome) and Livorno (for Pisa & Florence).

I felt prompted to write this brief review because my initial thoughts were so wrong - both of the tour days were 'maximised', we didn't wait in queues, waste time waiting for trains, taxis etc. nor did we have to put up with second rate guides reciting the same old script.....in fact we saw and experienced a lot more than we expected on each of the days without, at any time, feeling hurried - quite an accomplishment in the circumstances.

Both tours were really excellent in all respects: the quality of transport, the passion, interest and knowledge exhibited by both of our guides, Joe in Rome and Nicoletta in Pisa & Florence, was a delight they are both so obviously proud to show and explain to visitors about their cities and regions, their interest in tailoring each of the tours to our needs, dropping us off and picking us up with just the right amount of time, finding restaurants to suit our individual tastes, an out of town gelateria where the locals go for their ice cream etc. etc.

A day tour with this company is very well worth the money and all of our party would heartily recommend them.

“Wonderful day trip”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

We booked our wine tasting trip the day before on a whim. We were really surprised to find an email saying okay, the driver will meet us at the hotel the next morning at 8am. Massimo was our driver and his english was very good and he was a very cautious driver, which is almost unheard of in Rome. The mercedes was very comfortable and because it was Saturday, there wasn't much traffic. We started at Orvieto. The cathedral there is amazing. Definitely worth the admission. The wine tasting was at a little cafe across the plaza. What a gem this was. The owner did our tasting and he is the 3rd generation to own the cafe. He did an excellent job explaining the food and wine pairings. The best porchetto we had our whole trip! He let us into his cellar and told us the story of how his grandfather started the business. What a wonderful experience!
Next we were off to Montepulciano. We had a little mix up at restaurant and were getting very annoyed. When we met up with Massimo, he spoke to the owner, who in turn gave us a private tasting of reserve wine and the history of the farm. Then she took us into their cellar, which is also a museum of relics they find when they plow there fields. There are dinosaur bones, medieval tools and weaponry, all kinds of neat things. She was very knowledgeable and made up for the confusion in the restaurant. The bad part was that we had to pay 70 euros for a meal we didn't want or like. We were expecting to pay 30 euros for a wine tasting and food pairing.
Overall, the day was very nice. We got to see the Tuscan country side, which reminded me a lot of San Diego. We couldn't have asked for a better guide than Massimo. His knowledge of the area was amazing. Be aware that this trip costs 500 euros and that does not include any of the tastings or museum fees. We spent about 650 euros in all.
