“Location, location”
Reviewed April 28, 2014

Fori Imperiali Cavalieri is a good place to stay particularly because of the location, which is around 500 metres from the Coliseum.
If you arrive to Rome via Termini, it is better to take the underground to Coliseum (1.5€ for the ticket) and get off at the Coliseum stop. The hotel will be just a few minutes walk from the metro stop. Alternatively take a taxi, however I can not comment how much the cost for the taxi from Termini to the hotel will be as I never took it. One good point that makes this hotel different to others in similar price range is that it serves a buffet breakfast, with good options to choose from, always accompanied by a nice cappuccino that the waiter will prepare for you. The room size is just ok, as they offer enough space and they seem to be well isolated from external noises, with good a mattress that helps when it comes to have some sleep. The rooms are also clean and they are in a building with 4 floors (access to the rooms is available via a lift). The staff is helpful and they speak relatively good English.
It's a good hotel with its most positive characteristic being the location, and the value is good compared to similar hotels.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights last week.
The location is down a quiet side street that leads to the Roman Forum and just a few minutes walk to the Collisseum.
The tube station is also just around the corner so makes access to other areas of Rome very easy.
We got the train to the Vatican, then back to the Spanish Steps, from where we walked to the Trevi Fountain and strolled in the sunshine back to the hotel, so everything is within walking distance.
The hotel is small but has all you need for a short break.
We requested a balcony and were very lucky to get a huge one, where we sat with a welcome glass of wine after our walks!
Breakfast was fine as contintental breakfasts go .... more fresh fruit needed though!
Would recommend this hotel for a sightseeing trip.
Bed very hard but having said that, slept like a baby after all the walking and fresh air!

Room Tip: Request a balcony!

Stayed at the Hotel Fori Imperiali last week during a 4 night stay in Rome. The best part of the hotel is its location, as other users have pointed out. You are about a 5 minute walk from the Colosseo metro stop, there are buses that run along Via Fori Imperiali that go through Centro Storico, you can easily walk to the Colosseum, Palatine, Forum, and Palazzo Venezia, and the hotel is on a side street in this great area so it's not too noisy. We also thought the value was superb - we stayed for about $78/night, which included breakfast and wifi. The room was a bit small, as most European rooms are, but we had a stand up shower and bidet, an armoir with enough closet and drawer space for both of us, a miniature balcony that would be perfect for a smoker, and a queen sized bed. The breakfast itself was pretty good - the man downstairs (sorry I didn't catch his name!) was very friendly and helpful and always quick to make you a cappuccino. The breakfast was an assortment of drinks (juices, coffee, milk, water, etc.), scrambled eggs, cereals, meats and cheeses, biscuits, yogurts, breads, and various different pastries. The front desk was very nice and helpful with pretty good english. Hotel itself was fairly quiet, and the only street noise we heard was one night after a soccer match when we left the window open. Only cons would be: a/c didn't work well (it would get pretty stuffy in the room), room was a bit too small (it was hard to walk around the room and get around another person), and the bed was very firm. However, I fully recommend it to travelers and would definitely return!

Stayed here last year. The location was ideal, next to the Colosseum and close to the metro station. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was basic but ok. Reception staff were friendly and helpful in recommending restaurants. An excellent base to explore Rome.

The hotel is down a cobbled stone street, 2 blocks from the Colosseum. Right next to the Colosseum is Palatine Hill, the Forum and the Metro stop. There is an Irish Pub just around the corner. You couldn't ask for a better location when visiting Rome.
The staff at Hotel Fori Imperiali Cavalieri were helpful and really understand the term "customer service". Rosa, at the Front Desk, helped us tremendously throughout our 7 night stay. She assisted us with restaurant selections, directions to venues and we appreciated her sense of humor while listening to experiences of daily life in the eternal city. It was like being "a guest in someone's home".
Breakfast offered had a variety of items and more than satisfied our needs. A nice touch was a staff member asking what type of coffee you wanted, cappuccino, espresso, cafe au lait, made to order.
The rooms are small, modernized, clean, comfortable and very quiet. You can actually open your window for fresh air and not hear any noise. What major city in the world can you do that, especially how central this hotel is to all the sites. We had no problem watching the Olympics on our flat screen TV (albeit in Italian).
A family owns this property, along with other businesses (bakery, winery, etc.). The best thing about our experience was management's investment in continually improving this property while keeping the cost to a minimum for the Customer. Thanks again, well done.

I stayed at this small little hotel in May 2013 so this review has been long overdue, but its better late than never.

Location: The hotel itself is kind of hidden in the alley way so it is a little hard to locate but my friend and I didn't really have in issue in trying locate it. It's close to a little fast food restaurant called Lasagnam, so once you see that you are going the right way. It is close to the Termini train station; I wouldn't suggest walking if you have a lof of luggage, but if you don't mind the walk it takes about 15 minutes from what I remember. I thought the location was great because it was so close to the colosseum and walking distance to everything else like Trevi Fountain and Pantheon. We pretty much walked everywhere we went.

Room: The room itself was pretty small. The room we stayed in had a queen and one bathroom. It's pretty standard, nothing really fancy, but then again I consider this a budget hotel so I wasn't expecting much. It had plenty of closet space which was great. I wouldn't suggest this hotel if you are really tall because it is a pretty tight squeeze.

Service: It was great! No complaints at all. The man that worked in the breakfast room every morning was such a sweet guy. He made us coffee every morning which was delicious!

Breakfast: I was really yummy. There were eggs and bacon every morning. Different kinds of juices and pastries. You must try their croissants; the most delicious croissants I've ever had in my life and can't find anything here in CA that comes close to it.

Overall I would recommend this hotel if you are not looking for anything fancy or extravagant. It has everything you need and location is great. If I were ever to come back to Rome I would definitely stay here again.

We staid in this hotel last weekend of November. Basic hotel but clean and great location. Walking distance to anything ... restaurants, pubs, "gelaterias". Colosseum is on the corner of the street.
The hotel does not have a restaurant so you can only have breakfast at the hotel.
