“Only mosaic-lined chapel in Rome”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Wouldn't have known to visit this church had we not met a Priest and 2 other travelers in a wine bar the night before. Fantastic mosaics in the Zeno Chapel and lots of history throughout the church, some of which may or may not be true. Also allegedly contains scenes from books that didn't' make it into the bible - Director's Cut, I guess.

“High ranking and deserves it.”

On your way to or from Santa Maria Magiore this is worth a visit. It is unassuming from the outside, but inside the mosaics are wonderful. This is also a working church and not just a tourist stop. Imagine going to worship there. Visit the side chapel and pay to turn on the lights (not much). The wooden crucifix is a great piece of work. Of interest is the seat for the bishop which seems to hang from the wall. Not large and not crowded, but a memorable visit.

“Bring coins for the spectacular mosaics”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

The tiny "Chapel of Xeno" is gorgeous when lit up - the gold mosaic unbelievable and right up close. This delightful ancient church is just a block away from Santa M. Maggiore and worth a special visit.

Avoid the gift shop - the guy there is pushy, says he doesn't have change, and tries to say you've agreed to buy stuff when you haven't.

“Gorgeous mosaics”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

This is a lovely little church, just a short walk from Santa Maria Magiore. The mosiacs are simply gorgeous and glittering, do put on the lights in the lady chapel to get the full effect and the rest of the church is charming as well. Very pleased we went, well worth a visit.
