Writing a review of the Piazza Farnese is like writing a review of any gift of life -- you just have to experience it and love it and nourish the memories you take away. Rome is filled with the gifts of life, but because I stayed with a special friend in a hotel near Piazza Farnese for a week I can only say, gulp, go and enjoy!

Just off the Campo dei Fiori is this beautiful square. The Palazzo Farnese was designed by Michaelangelo - look for the fleur de lis that run all along the cornice. Today the building is the home of the French embassy. There are a pair of gorgeous fountains in the square that are actually ancient bathtubs. A little gem of a church is Sta. Brigitta (on our right as you face the Palazzo). It is tiny and sparkly inside.
I attended a sung vespars service there one evening around 5 pm...a lovely experience. There is a very posh and expensive restaurant opposite (I don't recall the name). It rates a 22 or something in Zaggets. But our meal (at about $100 per person) was terrible. Such a shame - our inexpensive meals in any number of trattorias were a 10th of the price and far better.
