Owner description: Via Veneto is one of the most expensive and famous shopping streets in Rome. This is where Federico Fellini filmed "La Dolce Vita."

We thought this was a good area as we stayed here. You can walk to many of Rome's attractions from here, get to the Termini area and we felt safe walking even late in the evening.

Via Veneto as a hint of glamour, maybe faded glamour. You can see this as you walk past the Café de Paris. Now it is the Hard Rock Cafe that is more lively.

There are upmarket hotels, increased security as the US Embassy is located here.

There are certainly restaurants that charge high prices. Unlike the film La Dolce Vita there are no paparazzi here. You will find people selling HOHO bus tickets though.

It is a busy area with a lot of tourists. Many restaurants, but geared for the elite as they area is very expensive.

Once the go-to destination of the glitterati, the fall from grace looks rough. Might be the uncoolest street in Rome with the token luxury brands and hotels, catering to the needs of the asian tourists instead of the movie stars. Still, it’s worth the walk, it’s a long curvy hill and you can imagine the struggle of the tiny Fiat topolino trying conquer it under the champagne hazed gaze of the movie stars burning the dolce out of their vita.

We walked by the front of the restaurant earlier in the day and was greeted by the charming Marco who asked us to come back for a dinner we wouldn't forget. After touring the city, we decided to take him up on the offer. We were greeted with champagne, escorted to a beautiful dining room surrounded by walls of wine. The shrimp/calamari starter was fantastic followed by lobster and pasta with bottle of Casanova do Niro. Absolutely perfect! Thank you Marco for a very memorable evening!!

It is always nice to stroll along this street and imagine Marcello Mastroianni, Anita Ekberg, Federico Fellini, in one of the restaurants.
We dined at Ristorante Il Gazebo and enjoyed classic Roman dishes, Carbonara, Saltimbocca, and an excellent bottle of wine produced in Lazio.
