Via Veneto is a fabulous street in north Rome filed with shops, cafes and ristorante's. Great place to hang out, drink some wine and people watch.

“Terrible expirience”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

It is the worst expirience ever.Do not book room there, very poor conditions, very rude staff. It is too expensive for what you get. No bed linien changing, no towels changing. You can not leave your bags after check out. For 130 euros you can find nice hotel in rome. You just stay in somebody's flat renting a room. There is even no reception, nobody from staff stays overnight. I did not feel safe there. Everything is from ikea, very old and used. Pillows filled with clouds of cotton wool. Interior of room was one big mistake, except all of bedding and furniture from ikea there where 3 pictures of clowns above the bed on very old paper without any frames. I am not sure what is all about. It was my worst stay,to avoid having holidays form hell just do not book there.

“this can be a beautiful half hour of your life”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

Rome is a city of time. Pick your time to suit your activity. Via Veneto is definitely 20century and best in the 60s. Start from piazza Barberini beside the Bernini Triton heading up towards Villa Borghese.

Best to walk at dusk and let your mind meander to La Dolce Vita... some of the cafes are still there , even the Harrys bar from the movie (not a patch the real Harry's in Venice).

The movie was melancholy and tragic though most talk only about the helicopter opening or the trevi fountain - there is something of it left on the via and if you love Fellini and Mastroianni and are a romantic this can be a beautiful half hour of your life, if you are prepared to bring your imagination hand in hand as you dream up the street.
