“A Jazz Venue in Rome”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013

when you go to a Jazz venue you assume two things (i) the food and drinks are usually pretty ordinary and (ii) the music is great. Only things came true at Alexanderplatz - the drinks were very ordinary. We arrived at 830pm and were told the show starts at 930pm. Came back and the music started at 10pm. The music presentation was oddly presented - a menu on each table where the audience was invited to make requests to the quartet Marcello Rosa. They played well enough and only once came close to sounding like a modern jazz quartet. Instead they played competently but not brilliantly. If you're a jazz aficionado, you'll be disappointed. If you want to try a place with reasonable music and average food and drink then Alexanderplatz is OK

“more great music in Rome”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2013

tucked underground this club certainly looks the part and when I visited the music, a group of musicians from Bologna and Rome, was tight, swinging and real quality.
The club itself was nice, with full menus and stocked bars. The only real negative was that you couldn't always see the stage depending on where you were-for the best seats you probably want to eat dinner there too.

“To listen good music”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2012

There is nothing much special about this place but the music. The place is ok, the beverages were ok, the service was ok. But the musicians and the acoustic of this place were great. Is good to hang out with friends too.

“Oldest jazz club in Italy!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2011

Alexander Platz is the oldest jazz club in Italy. It is located in one of the most exclusive areas in the historical centre, quite close to St Peter's Basilica. I have been here numerous times and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The staff I encountered were welcoming and relatively friendly. The cover charge for the concerts I have been to was relatively inexpensive. Where they catch you out here is the food, drinks and the 'music charge' when you make an order (it's relatively expensive even for drinks!). In saying that, the food and drinks are top class and the club has an amazing feel.

Situated below street level, it has multiple areas with curved archways between them. White walls with writing from all of the artists who have played there with black and white chequered floors. Although the stage is hard to see from some tables, the club has a beautiful ambience and feel. I would recommend it to anyone!

“Nice place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2011

I went there only once, so I guess I would need to go there several times to form a definite opinion on the place. The night I went there, a US jazz singer, accompanied by a band of three Italians. The place is very atmospheric, a typical jazz club.

I was quite disappointed with the quality of the sound though. My table was not exactly in front of the band, and we could barely hear the singer. Quite disappointing for such a jazz club.

One can eat there. The food is nothing special.

Overall I would recommend this place. Concerts change almost every night, and the program is on their website.
