“beautiful and soooo old!”

Super old church with a very cool history built on the site of one of the first Christian gathering places (someone's home). Being Rick Steve's audio guide of Trastevere with you to learn more!

“Stunning gold interior”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2014

My husband and I were advised to visit this part of Rome and church by our hotel and we are very pleased we did. The church is magnificent with a beautiful gold interior behind the altar which lights up if you put a few cents into the machine. The ceilings are also fantastic with a gold one near the altar between the 2 organs and a black and gold one along the main nave.

Very unassuming church from the outside in a small square but the inside is magnificent.

“Important historical church”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2014 via mobile

At this church you will find the first icone/image of Holy Mother Mary. It is the first church built by christians in Rome, and it is beautiful. If you go at 20:00 you will see the beautiful pray of community Santo Egidio. They have translation for many languages and you can enjoy the meditation if you want. It was a moment of peace and beauty in my trip.
