Inside you'll find numerous treasures, a quiet place to reflect and relax. If you are worried to climb the 1348 built staircase there is a way around it. First visit the Capitoline Museum at Palazzo Nuovo (one of the oldest museums in the world), turn left between the two buildings and you are at the entrance level of the church. You can then enjoy the beautiful staircase going down.

Practically hidden from view but marked by signs for the Ara Coeli you are stunned by the inner beauty. The beauty of the views of the forum and all of Rome from the top of the adjacent monument to Vittorio Emanuel make the stair climb worth the effort. Exiting the front of the church follow the signs to your right for the elevator to the top of the monument.

it was the poets' Joseph Brodsky favourite church in Rome , and it is beautiful inside, but the entire hill, and the view on the forum behind are equally breath taking.

This is a great church that was hidden by the Fascists that built the Monument to Vittorio Emmanuelle II. The inside of the church is beautiful and is worth the walk. However, before you start climbing up, make sure that the church is open! You can tell by keeping an eye on people that reach the top and see if they turn around and come back down or stay up there...
