Used to stay in this hotel for over 6 months and from what I understand this hotel wants to become a 4 star hotel , and they truly deserve it.
Staff from Paulie , Eddie , Salvatore , Snoopy , Luigi etc , All perfect and very friendly .
Ms Georgia is a lovely lady and runs a beautiful hotel , I wish everyone in this hotel the success of reaching 4 stars.
All I can say is I hope Georgia removes the dollar sign from her eyes when interacting with customers.
other than that Good Price for what you get , Good sleep , and recommended to all.

I strongly recommend this hotel for the location, breakfast, bed, and specially for the friendly and helpful owners and employees. Everybody was nice with us, the 2 guys responsible for cleaning the rooms, Raffaele at breakfast, Antonio and Salvatore at the reception, as well as Luigi and Giorgia. Thank you all!

My wife and I stayed here for a week at the end of October and had a room on the 3rd floor over looking the river. The hotel is very well placed for the Vatican and Trastevere with its restaurants. Plus the main tourist sights (Navona, Camp de Fiori, Trevi, Spanish Steps, Pantheon and the Colosseum) were all within walking distance. Ostia Antica is also worth a visit, we got there in around an hour door to door including buying the bus/metro tickets. We found all of the staff to be friendly and helpful at all times.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms have either a balcony at the front or a courtyard at the back which provided an are...

We had a nice stay in this little cosy hotel :-)
Very central, good comfort and a good price!!
The friendly owners had some nice advice for restaurants or things to do in the city and had some nice talk if you wanted. Also the service was very good and the breakfast was small, but good en fresh! (better than lots and old :-) )
I would recommend this hotel!

My husband and I stayed here 2 nights after our cruise ended. Our room, 101, was clean, had a comfortable bed and a nice outside terrace. This is a small hotel with a tiny lobby and elevator, but we basically wanted a comfortable, quiet room for 2 nights. The bathroom was fairly new, however, the shower is very tiny, like a cruise ship shower. My husband and I are not big, so not an issue for us. Also, the hotel is being renovated and we were told will be finished in a few months. Renovations were not an issue since we were out all day touring Rome. The free breakfast was very good and staff helpful and friendly. Since we booked well in advance, we got a good price. Easy 10 min. walk to the Vatican; also within walking distance to Spanish steps and Trevi Fountain. Our only issue was the first night the hotel had a plumbing problem and the work was being done very early morning which woke us up. The plumbing was fixed and all was ok the second night.

Room Tip: Hotel is located one street off a busy street, so rooms in the back would probably be quieter.

I was with my wife and 3 kids for a 4 night stay in Rome and would recommend La Rovere as a slightly less touristy place to stay. We booked our Italian trip (which also included 4 nights in Sorrento) through a travel agent who specializes in Italy. This is not a bargain hotel, but with a family of 5 we didn't want to rough it or take chances.

We appreciated the friendly concierges and the continental breakfast provided each day. We were on the third floor which had pluses and minuses. The building is old and has all the charm and inconveniences of an old building. The elevator was tiny and hot and we all could not fit on it (certainly not with our luggage). The steps were beautiful but steep. We liked the hotel floorplan. We had two rooms. The room doors were set in an alcove facing each other which gave us a feeling of having more privacy than in a traditional hotel. The rooms were on the smallish side but comfortable and the bathrooms (while compact) were spotless. The kid's room had a private spacious outdoor balcony with a beautiful view of the Basilica di San Giovanni Battista dei Fiorentini across the Tiber River.

The hotel location is excellent with a short walk to St. Peters Square and a slightly longer walk to the entrance to the Vatican museum. There is an excellent restaurant (Trattoria Sor'Eva) around the corner on the Piazza Della Revere. It is also only about a 15 minute walk to the trendy Trastevere area. We also enjoyed the open air market and bars along the West side of the Tiber River. It is a 25 - 30 minute (but very nice) walk to the city center or a short taxi ride. Overall, we were very happy with our stay at La Rovere.

By the way if you go to Rome, it is worth every penny to pay for private tours of the City Center and the Vatican. Your private tour means you get to skip ahead of all the unguided tourists. The lines can be incredibly long at the Coliseum and the Vatican Museum and you do not want to spend your vacation waiting in one line after another. At the Vatican museum, we got to see the Sistine Chapel early before the hordes descended on it.
