It was reasonable value to me as a budget traveller. If I wanted any more comfort, I could have paid more. Take flipflops for budget hotel bathrooms if it makes you feel better.
Having said that, the bed was very uncomfortable and any foot traffic in the corridors or conversations late at night at Reception woke me up. The presumably fire-safe doors in Rome make a lot of noise if not closed gently.
I did like - sunny breakfast room and terrace; fresh coffee; very friendly and helpful staff; the 2 mins walk to Termini Station and transfers to airport; walking distance to many tourist sights in Rome; free internet when it worked; baggage storage, albeit in lobby.
Buy a piece of fruit from Termini Station to add to your breakfast. Roman style brekki is not up to much.

I had the misfortune to book 2 double rooms at this filthy hotel and I'm writing my first review to help others find a better (any other) hotel.
First, this is not a 2* hotel, it's a hostel.
Second, seems lies in advertising are not punished in Italy, because they wrote on my booking I'll find in my standard room wooden floors, desk, shower, hairdrier, flat screen TV, alarm clock, 17 square meters.
They ask for the whole amount of money in cash, just as you arrive. And I soon found out why: in reality, i found filthy tiles (as in picture), shower above the toilet and toilet paper, no hairdrier, no desk, no alarm clock, room of 10 square meters at most!
I asked for the remote for the TV and they asked me 10 euros deposit.
The walls are paper thin, you can hear other people, people taking showers and flushing in other rooms, and of course the elevator! Oh, the elevator! Is for 2 people, old and not safe at all! But I had to use it, being at the 6th floor.
The bathroom was smelling like feces all day, the smell coming from the air vent - because I didn't use it.
The breakfast could drive a healthy person to diabethes - only sweet stuff, I don''t think a normal person could enjoy it.
The wi-fi works only in the small lobby-kitchen and worked only 2 out of 5 days spent there.
At least the personell at the reception seemed helpful.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel!

Place much have recently been done up as our room was very modern clean & tidy. Think we paid 50 euro for the two of us mid November which was the cheapest we had in Italy. Chose here as close to the termini & because of the roof terrance - which is no longer but hey.

Breakfast was one of the most basic in Italy we had but it did the trick.

Main thing was that the bed was comfortable & the shower was good. Had 24 hour maned reception which felt good for security however wish there had been a safety deposit box in the room as the area is a bit dodgy. Felt more comfortable always turning left out of the hotel instead of right to go anywhere. We walked to almost every site in Rome from here. A Spar is close by to stock up on things & is great not having to go far from the termini with the backpack. Staying 3 nights before international flight home - long enough.

Room Tip: Unsure only saw the room we were in.

I'm surprised at some of the negative comments about this place. For 30 euros a night I got to stay in the heart of Rome, in a lovely little hostel, with nice staff, a great terrace for breakfast and free coffee/tea and pastries. I stayed for three nights in the hotel floor rather than the shared hostel rooms - my room was quite small and warm, but for the price I would certainly not complain, and the bathroom was clean and had a good shower. When I go to Rome again I would certainly choose this place, and would recommend it to anyone on a budget who didnt mind living in a hostel style environment.

The best things about Fawlty Towers are its location (very close to Roma termini), price and friendly staff. Inside, there is a small kitchen, a balcony, a TV area. Unlike other budget places, this one regular beds instead of bunk beds, which aren’t the most confortable, but certainly will do for the money you pay.

The location is pretty good (just a few steps from termini) Overall it's poor with facility and the beds were very uncomfy but it's OK to stay one night or so but find another place if you're planning to stay longer.
