This hotel has a beautiful, private courtyard right in the middle of the bustling Trastevere neighborhood. Easy access to all the main sightseeing spots. Wonderful breakfast and afternoon appetizers. The hotel staff was also wonderful. The rooms are somewhat plain by North American standards, but very clean, good showers and amenities and comfortable bed. Would recommend.

Stayed at this beautiful oasis in the middle of Rome at the beginning of Oct 17. Great staff and service, reasonably priced. Rooms very pleasant and well maintained. Close to all the main sites, for instance Vatican 30 minutes, and loads of restaurants close by. Would thoroughly recommend.

This small hotel is a gem! In the lovely Trastevere neighborhood. Wonderful restaurants and shops. The square is so cute with the sound of church bells. It’s location is perfect walking to Rome center and all the sites. What I liked best was, as Rome can be a bit loud and chaotic, the ability to step away to this lovely hotel and neighborhood. I would recommend this to anyone going to Rome. Thank you Hotel Santa Maria. Your staff was friendly and the breakfast was perfect. We hope to stay with you again❤️

Room Tip: I believe any of the rooms would be lovely. We were in room 6 and it was perfect.

I happened upon Hotel Santa Maria when my B&B next door had no availability for my final night in Rome. I was pleasantly surprised with the accommodations- though it could be difficult to locate this hotel, once through the gates, it opens into a wonderful, private courtyard only steps from Santa Maria Piazza. There are innumerable restaurants, shops, bars and gelato stops within a few minutes walk.
The room was clean, well appointed and spacious by city standards. The included breakfast was more than adequate. Though I did not partake in the afternoon appetizers, I'm sure they didn't disappoint.
Trastevere is the gem of Rome. You are walking distance to every sight there is to see. I would definitely recommend this neighborhood as well as this hotel.
My only reason for not giving it a 5 rating was price related- it was slightly more than I wanted to pay.

We just returned from our visit to Rome and stay at Hotel Santa Maria. We were absolutely delighted with every aspect of our stay.

Communication with the hotel was prompt and efficient. We appreciated the offer to arrange a private car from the airport. Every staff person went above and beyond for their guests.

The grounds were stunning. Sitting outside under the fruit trees was our after dinner ritual.

The breakfast was plentiful and filled with many choices. Same with the afternoon happy hour.

Location was perfect. Everything was walking distance.

Highly recommended.
