We very much enjoyed our stay in April, we were in room 16, which was spacious, tastefully
decorated and quiet, with a view onto one of the courtyards, with orange trees.
The breakfasts taken in the courtyard, were great, including excellent coffee and charming and effective service.
The delightful courtyards and the terrace were welcome respites from sightseeing in Rome and the bustle of the immediate area. The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Rooms onto the second courtyard seem to be the quietest

Great small hotel in the best area for 'coming back to' after days out. Loved the bungalow style layout of rooms and the little gardens and terrace to sit in for breakfast and evening drinks. Staff very nice and helpful. Free use if everything eg bikes, safe and wifi.

Other reviews comment on the noise between walkway and rooms, we did notice this but were not bothered by it too much- it is central Rome after all. The staff do ask you to be courteous to other guests.

My wife and I stayed 6 nights in this quiet and very pleasant hotel. Rooms nicely decorated. Bathroom very complete. Breakfast as it should be. Staff nice and helpful. The hotel is situated in a neighbourhood with many little and good restaurants. From the hotel walking: 25 minutes Vatican, 35 minutes Piazza di Spagna, 25 minutes Colloseum.
When we go again to Rome we will choose definitely for Hotel Santa Maria.

My husband and spent five days at the Hotel Santa Maria in May on our first trip to Rome, and I can't imagine a more pleasant place to stay. The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere relaxed and comfortable. Easy walking distance to Rome over the Ponte Sisto, and wonderful to come home to the quiet courtyard, fragrant orange trees and happy hour buffet. The room was spacious, great bed and bathroom. So much fun to walk outside the courtyard to the beautiful little streets and cafes of Trastevere.

This was an ideal place for our family of 4 to see the sights of Rome. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The courtyards & terraces with the orange trees were lovely. Very quiet location and easy to walk along the river or take bus or taxi anywhere. Breakfast was tasty.

My family and I stayed in Hotel Santa Maria in Trastevere in mid-April. The property is clean, fresh, comfortable, generous in size of room and bathroom, and even includes two courtyards surrounded by orange trees. If you are considering traveling to Rome with young children, this location is perfect. From the colorful Santa Maria piazza, it is a short walk to the gate of the hotel. Once you are inside the hotel grounds, the gate closes and you can allow your children to walk up the drive and explore in the orange tree courtyards without worry. Our children are young, ages 2 and 4 and they needed this space. Upon our arrival, the hotel had provided 2 Santa Maria in Trastevere teddy bears for our children. Of course they were thrilled. The requested crib for the 2 year old was a pack and play – which seems to be the standard crib for European hotels. After 3 trips to Rome, Trastevere is still my favorite part of Rome. It provides a haven when you need a break from the madness of Rome. And when you need even more quiet, the Hotel Santa Maria in Trastevere is your perfect answer. I’d stay here again and again.

My fiancée and I stayed at Hotel Santa Maria during our stay in Rome. The staff are welcoming and warm; the rooms clean, comfortable and quiet; and the location excellent. The breakfast was simple but tasty, and after a day of the madness of Rome, a glass or two of wine in the quiet courtyard was a welcome respite to recharge and head back out again!
