“Best B&B in Rome!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2014

We stayed at La Duchessa for 3 marvellous nights and were impressed with every aspect of it. First, our hosts looked after our every need and were very warm and kind. The rooms are super clean and comfortable. It feels like home! It was very easy taking the bus and tram to get downtown and it was fun staying in a residential part of the city. Daniella gave us excellent directions for getting around and even addresses for finding some restaurants that accommodated a gluten-free diet. The breakfasts were substantial and tasty and gave us a good start to our days of sightseeing and exploring. And yes, the cappuccinos are fabulous! Daniella even took great pains to help us find alternate convenient accommodation for our return to Rome at a time when the B&B was already booked. We LOVED this B&B!!

I'm so sorry it's taken me forever to write this! However, I cannot stop raving about this bed and breakfast to my family and friends. We had rented a scooter during our trip to Rome and there was plenty of street parking right next to their location - those without their own transportation need not worry! Public transportation is 3 blocks or so away!

I must say, Marco's cappuccinos are amazing, and I don't even drink coffee. And the hosts were so sweet and always went out of their way to help my wife and I out. We look forward to staying with you again in the future!

We were lucky enough to stay at this B&B 3 days this week, we had a great stay ! The location is a little off the beaten path , but by using the tram line the location is very good !
The rooms are super super clean and the bath is very very clean.
The breakfast area is super and the breakfast great !
They have a very very lovely outdoor terrace that is unbelievable ! One of the best terraces we have seen.
I would love to stay here again , everything was great !
We travel a lot and this one of the best B&Bs we have stayed at !

Mike

I had the best time at La Duchessa and I am going back for sure! I recommend it very much! Nice rooms, good breakfast, Marco cappuchino was awesome, and it was close to everything. I recommend to ask Marco about nice places to eat because he sent us to Mo Mo Republica and it was GREAT! Love living with locals!

Daniela and Marco are among the best B&B hosts because they are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, as well as interesting conversationalists. During our 5 night stay, we benefited from their recommendations regarding sites to see, public transportation directions and restaurants. Their rooms are spacious, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is scrumptious.

We stayed at this wonderful B & B from October 15th to the 19th. We looked at other places closer to the centre of Rome, but my instinct told me to stick with this one; this B & B was by far the winner of all the places we stayed in during our 2 week stay in Italy. The tram is a 5-minute walk and brings you right to the centre.
There is a kitchen, which you are free to use anytime during the day or night. The breakfasts are plentiful and delicious. The outdoor rooftop terrace is a haven to come back to at the end of a long day, and offers spectacular views of the city. The rooms are beautifully decorated and clean, and there is plenty of storage. On the walls you can admire the cheerful poetic artwork of Giuliano Gentile.

If you ever decide to visit Canada and more specifically, the beautiful province of Nova Scotia, please let us know.

Thank you again so very much! Merci beaucoup! Grazie mille!

PS: We had a couple of unfortunate incidents while in Rome…and if it wasn’t for Daniela and Marco and their warm smiles and genuine concern, we would have come back home with a bad memory of Rome.

Please beware of taxi drivers who try to rip you off and pickpockets…I don’t care how savvy a traveler you are, these people are professionals, be extra vigilant while in Rome.

This lovely B & B has to be seen to be believed. It truly deserves all the wonderful reviews people have given it. I can usually find fault with any place I stay in, but not this place run by two wonderful people, Daniela and Marco. Their warm welcome, happy smiles, generosity, great conversation, helpful advice and spotlessly clean rooms make this a B & B to remember. It is decorated with highly original and vibrant artwork. Only two rooms, each with its own separate bathroom (not en suite, but only two or three steps from the bedroom door), with good beds and lighting, nice linens, plenty of drawer and hanging space, and for guests an open refrigerator stocked with food, beer, sodas and juices. Off the breakfast room is a top floor terrace where the views out over the roof tops are lovely, especially as the sun sets. In fine weather this is where breakfast is served, and it is a fine affair. So many juices, fruits, pastries, meats and cheeses. Something different every day. Plus proper espresso coffee made to your liking. And all accompanied by great conversation with your two hosts. Don’t expect breakfast to be a quick affair. The location is also great, only a short walk to a very good tram service right into the heart of Rome, taking only 20 minutes or so. Daniela and Marco live in another apartment on this floor, so are always there if you need anything. Nothing is too much trouble for them. And their English is certainly better than my Italian! They know many of the local restaurants and can recommend a wide selection of places to eat. You can trust their judgment! If you stay here you will not be disappointed. But be warned – book well ahead as word has spread about what a wonderful place this is, and what really nice hosts Marco and Daniela are. This B & B sets new standards for excellence in hospitality. Try it!

Room Tip: The green room has a bigger bathroom so you might prefer this one. But it doesn't have a balcony...
