“What fabulous hosts!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

Daniela and Marco are truly fabulous people and amazing hosts. We arrived fairly late and there they were with snacks and drinks for four weary travellers! One reviewer said it didn't feel like a regular B&B and they were right - Daniela and Marco make you feel as if you are at home, with family. The sincerity and genuineness of our hosts was outstanding and you felt so looked after. The place is sparkling clean. The tram runs 24hours and is a short block away and takes you to the centre of Rome where you can easily walk to the Coliseum, etc. The patio deck was a welcome respite from the summer heat and to sit and chat with your hosts on a balmy July evening was memorable. You can tell they love their city and want their guests to enjoy it. They truly go out of their way to provide exceptional surroundings, accommodations and hospitality - certainly unequaled in my travels.
Daniela and Marco - thank you so much for being our hosts and for creating such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. If I come back to Rome, I'm staying with you!

I really wanted to take my time and sit down properly to write a review, because Daniela and Marko really do deserve a thoughtful review from their guests, one which would equal the passion and commitment that they gave us during our stay in Roma.

That being said, it feels difficult to write a review on their business because it didn't feel like a regular B and B nor do these people feel like regular hosts. It felt like a home away from home for 6 days and in the end Daniela and Marko like family. We booked based on TA reviews and really did hit the jackpot. This place is SO SO SO clean, its beautifully decorated and spacious and the terrace view where you have your breakfast offers a great meditation moment.

You will be conveniently close enough to the historic center via tram, while having the opportunity to live amongst real Romans in a real residential area. Its an authentic experience which really does give you an impression of returning to your house rather then to an establishment, which you will simply not get if you pick a hotel in the very center of Rome. You might have slightly greater convenience for an extremely steeper price, but you will miss out on great these great people, who offer local advice, insight, support and genuine hospitality.

This is a B&B which has all the things that people choose B and B's over hotels for - great, enthusiastic and warm locals who introduce you to their city and culture via their own lives, homes and experiences. La Duchessa and Daniela and Marko made Rome really special for us. We will not only return because it is a great and affordable place to stay, but to catch up with our once hosts, now friends.

Stay here ! (my incredibly long review hopefully makes clear how special this place was for us!)

All the best,

Aleksandra and Raul

Yes, the reviews are true. Daniela and Marco are the perfect hosts. Warm, genuine, helpful and friendly. Rome can be a bit daunting for the first time but with the helpful information from our hosts we found it trouble free and a joy. To start and end our day at this home from home B&B made for the perfect holiday. Exquisite rooms with outstanding original artwork, beautiful patio area for outdoor breakfast if you wish and unbelievable choice of food (I am still having withdrawal symptoms from the lovely pastries). Really cannot praise this highly enough and will definitely return next year.
A big thank you to Daniela and Marco wishing them both every success and happiness in the future.

Our stay here made a good holiday into a great holiday. Our stay was faultless and the accommodation was perfect. I can’t recommend enough. The only problem is deciding not to stay on the roof terrace drinking wine watching the sun set and go out and view the city…what a place.

After reading all the excellent reviews about this B&B we had no doubt that we wanted to spend our 2 nights in Rome here... and we are so glad we did it!!

Since the first moment we entered this lovely B&B we felt like we were at some old friends' house! Daniela and Marco made everything they could to make our stay at La Duchessa a Roma unforgettable! The room (well, actually the whole apartment) is so nicely decorated and you have everything you need; Daniela and Marco really take care of the smallest detail... they even have a big selection of wine that you can enjoy while watching sunset in the beautiful terrace.

The area where the B&B is located is very quiet and to get to Rome's main attractions there is a very convenient and frequent tram line close by.

For us, the best part of staying at La Duchessa a Roma was the breakfast in the morning (very complete with bread, toasts, fresh fruits, fresh pastries, cheese, homemade jams and honey, different juices, yoghurts, ... fantastic coffee :) while chatting with Daniela, Marco and the other guests.

We will definitely go back in our next trip to Rome :D

Room Tip: All of them are lovely

Staying with Daniela and Marco certainly marked a fantastic start to our visit to Rome. This was 200 percent or more way above what we had expected. I don't even know where or how to begin the review.

Let's just start from breakfast. Firstly, the spread was amazing. There were tasty bread, cold cuts, fresh fruits, specially made cafe style cappuccino and so on. What made the breakfast here different is that Daniela took pains to prepare a gluten free breakfast for my daughter. She is on a gluten free diet. We did not expect it at all. She bought a range of gluten free crackers for Meg and explained in detail what the ingredients for each one was. Seriously, even we don't do that for Meg. She even made Meg a frothy cup of soya milk each day which she drank it all up everyday.Meg was always looking forward to the breakfast and so were we.

Then there were the rooms. The place is so tastefully decorated with paintings. The rooms are so clean and comfortable. Marco was so kind. He was afraid the single bed was too big for Meg and even suggested they bring in a smaller bed for her. That made me feel like a bad parent because Meg's bed was as big at home. We also had free use of the immaculately clean kitchen. Daniela showed us where everthing was and allowed us to use everything. I was really shocked because she was making us feel we are moving into a new house of my own.

Daniela and Marco really made us feel at home and tried their best to help us settle in. When we arrived, Daniela gave us directions on where to go and a list of gluten free restaurants. She even offered to take us to the supermarket to buy gluten free stuff for Meg which are so lacking at home. She attends to every of our need, sometimes even more meticulous than myself. Marco is friendly and Meg adores him. He went ot of the way by going to the train station to help us get our train tickets to orievto.

I do not know how we are going to go home after enjoying such hospitality and feeling so at home. Why take at a hotel when staying with Daniela and Marco is far more superior?

We will definitely miss the place and will return again.

Room Tip: depends on which painting you like to see in your room:)

My cousin and I had the pleasure of staying for 4 nights at Daniela's and Marco's beautiful B&B in early May. Daniela and Marco are two of the warmest, most generous and hospitable people we have ever met,and they could not do enough for us, an example being Marco personally delivering an umbrella to our restaurant (haha!!) when it started to rain. Our room was beautifully decorated and spotless, the breakfasts were HUGE and we had a terrific and fun time sharing our home in Rome with three fellow Aussie sisters - hello Tracy, Amanda and Esther! Glad to see your pink flowers are thriving Marco and Daniela and just love the new cover on your verandah! If I am ever back in Rome, I will be sure to return. Love from Mandie and Rose xx

Room Tip: Both rooms are just beautiful!
