B&B La Duchessa A Roma
Ranked #1 of 3,743 Rome B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed April 15, 2013

This is the finest B&B we have *ever* been to, bar none. The proprietors Daniela and Marco are two of the most kind, generous and helpful (and very humble) hosts you could ever hope for on your trip to Rome. You are treated as friends rather than mere customers passing through, but they are do not impose at all on your privacy. The building is exceptionally clean and fresh, the food is superb (the coffee is the best I had in Rome!) and the service is unsurpassed. Nothing is a problem and the couple are more than willing to help you with reservations, map locations, language problems, etc. If you are planning a trip to Rome, do not look past La Duchessa. We cannot recommend this place enough. Can you tell?

Daniela is very warm and kind, but still professional and respectful of your privacy. Her correspondence leading up to our arrival was very responsive. There are just 3 rooms, so breakfast is quiet, and Daniela and Marco's service is very personable. A huge variety of breakfast items. I'm particular about cleanliness of hotels, and I was very pleased with La Duchessa A Roma. The B&B is about 20 min to the city center by tram, including the 5 minute walk to the tram stop (plus a little time waiting for the tram). The route takes you right by Trastavere, an area that's great for a visit and a meal. Get off at the stop closest to the river before crossing into the city center. Thank you Daniela and Marco for a lovely visit to Roma! Lisa and Mark

Marko and Daniela are wonderful, responsive and good people. This vibrant, heart and selfless attitude, we have not met the people. Here you can relax and feel at home (in Rome). Very high-quality repairs, all the furniture is new. Everything works. The apartments are located on the top floor (you will sleep so tightly as in any hotel in Rome, believe me), a five-story building with an elevator. There is a huge terrace for breakfast and sunbathing. A five-minute walk a few restaurants with great food choices. Absolutely comfortable and safe haven. We wish the owners every success and thank you for the magic performed by us in Rome.

We spent 11 nights in Rome. Marco and Daniela are incredible. We have food allergies and they made WONDERFUL eggless, dairy-free cakes for us to eat! They helped us find restaurants and communicated our special needs to the owners. They are kind, helpful, and thoughtful. Our teenage sons were impressed that we found such an amazing place. It is a cozy, clean, and comfortable place. We felt like we were living in Rome, as opposed to just visiting. They have a refrigerator in the kitchen where we could put some groceries we bought. This was great because of food allergies and because teen boys eat all the time. I am thankful to have become friends with Marco and Daniela. We had a great time in Rome. You can not go wrong with this B&B. It was the perfect place to stay.

Room Tip: There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. One will be designated for you to use (unless you rent...

I booked La Duchessa A Roma for a city break to Rome to celebrate my boyfriends 30th birthday and have to say this is one of the best experiences of a bnb we have ever had. I would highly recommend La Duchessa Roma and can't imagine staying anywhere else.

The bnb is beautiful. Immaculately clean and beautifully decorated with bright colours and interesting artwork throughout. It is modern, cheerful and welcoming, the rooms are comfortable and spacious.

Daniela and Marco are friendly and welcoming, you can tell that they really care about helping their guests get the most out of their trip. There are only two rooms which means Daniela can provide a fantastically personal service. She brought my boyfriend out a little birthday cake with candles for breakfast on his birthday morning (unprompted by me) and really went the extra mile to help us wherever she could. One day we mentioned that we enjoyed live music and she came back with a map and names of all the live music venues she knew of.

Upon arrival Daniela spent time with us showing us a map of Rome and pointing out different sights and attractions, the more famous ones as well as the smaller less known places which really helped us capture the spirit of Roma.

Her advice pointed us in the direction of the best places to get coffee, some of the most beautiful churches and piazzas I've seen, to her favourite restaurants and even included tips on beating the queue for the colosseum. for a tourist who has nevere been to Rome before Daniela's advice was invaluable. She is an asset that money cannot buy!

Daniela also booked some beautiful restaurants for us - Mo Mo Republique is just a 5 minute walk from the BnB and we went to a small italian family run restaurant as well. Make sure you take her advice on where to go!

Breakfast was continental and included a selection of toast, pastries, cereal, fruit and some of Daniela's homemade cakes. There's also a beautiful terrace where you can enjoy a glass of wine or even eat breakfast. Daniela is a fantastic cook and her pineapple upside down cake was divine!

The BnB is just 5 minutes from a tram stop, and 15minutes in the tram will take you in to the centre of Rome. One morning we walked intot he centre which took about 40minutes. There are a few little shops and a couple of great restaurants within walking distance if you wanted to try somewhere more local to eat but the trams run through to midnight as well so you can also eat in the city centre.

A wonderful stay overall. Daniela and Marco I cannot thank you enough for making our trip so perfect. We would not have experienced the real Roma without your recommendations.

We spent 3 nights at la Duchesses mid-March and we really loved it. The rooms are comfy and extra clean, the breakfast is delicious and huge. But most of all the hosts are great people, Daniela and Marco were taking good care of us. We even had homemade cakes for breakfast and woke up with a very nice smell of hot cake.
That is the place to go !

My spouse, daughter and I spent a very pleasant 4 days in early February at the B&B La Duchessa a Roma which is located in very nice and safe area. Daniela, the owner had already emailed us some good info about transport and getting from the airport easily, which was useful. On arrival she and her husband Marco spent some time with us to describe the best way to get to the various sights, and good reliable and inexpensive restaurants.

The room we had requested was comfortable and gave us a good nights sleep. All the facilities worked well, and everything was very clean and tidy. The brekfast was very good. If we go to Rome again we would certainly book in there again.
