“Avoid the Apartment”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

By all appearances this hotel is a good place. The staff is clearly dedicated and works hard, The place is clean, well organized, relatively quiet location (for Rome), very nice breakfast room and small garden. We liked the location 5 minutes from the Spanish Steps and metro stations. We reserved an apartment for 3 people and were housed across the street in a separate building. This was a near disaster - the beds were hard as a rock, tv not functional, night club next door and relatively dark rooms. A nice small hotel in Rome, but if you have more than 2 people and require an 'apartment', ask a lot of questions and avoid the annex.

Room Tip: Main building, upper floor

Hotel Modigliani is a great little hotel in a great location. You can get around easily and there are several restaurants nearby. The rooms a clean and the top rooms are worth the extra money to look out over Rome. Very romantic.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money for 602.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Modigliani on our first trip to Rome and we couldn't have asked for a better place to call home base. The Hotel was very clean and the staff went out of their way to be welcoming and helpful. It is very conveniently located close to the major attractions (Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain), and within walking distance of many great restaurants and shopping. Public transportation was close by. The garden is a great place to enjoy your morning breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening. The staff always answered our questions and although our room was small and there was some noise from the other guests as they walked in the hallway outside our room and banged some doors closed, we had a great stay and will definately come back!!

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the garden.

My husband and I are just back from our two-week Italian Honeymoon and we spent our last two nights at Hotel Modigliani. The hotel is in a very nice location (North Rome/Spanish Steps) and was very clean. The staff are VERY friendly and helpful. I will warn that the noise from room to room (both in the hallways and footsteps above) was VERY loud...it woke us up numerous times while we stayed. Otherwise, we had a great experience and really enjoyed the location.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room...if they have one? Maybe at least the top floor wouldn't have footsteps a...

My husband and I spent two nights in Rome at the end of may. The staff at Hotel Modigliani were very nice and extremely helpful. Hotel Modigliani is a perfect location if you want to see all the sights. They are close to the public transportation that will get you anywhere you want to go easily. We will be staying there on our next trip to Rome.

Good things do come in small packages. This small hotel was a joy. From the staff to the pretty rooms and artwork, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Convenient to everything. Special thanks to Nicola and Laura.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 days following a two week tour around Italy and we couldn't have asked for a better way to end our trip. The rooms are small (although bigger than many we stayed in while in Europe) but well appointed and ours had a balcony with a lovely view.
The location is superb and makes exploring the city on foot fairly easy - no train rides needed to get into town. Which also makes dining out in the evenings much easier as you don't need to worry about what time the trains shut down. The hotel recommended several restaurants in the area and we tried 2 of them - both were delicious and were in the price bracket we had requested.
We found the staff extremely helpful and excellent in English (as our Italian is very limited).
Our highest recommendation for this hotel is the owner (Marco)'s book on Walkin' Rome. You'll find it in reception and it is worth ever cent of it's (extremely reasonable) price. We spent one of our days following his recommended walk through a part of Rome we would never have discovered on our own and learned a great deal from his thoughtful commentary. It was such fun! We will definitely stay here again should we be lucky enough to return to Rome.
