“Best view of Rome”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

I was so happy that I decided to go to the top of the Vittorio Emmanuel II Monument ("the Wedding Cake") I took the 7 Euro elevator ride up to the top. (Half price for 10 - 18 year olds and over 65). I was right up there close to the chariot sculptures on top of the building and had the most magnificent panoramic view of all of Rome. Couldn't get a better view of the Colosseum and Forum, especially at the end of the day (maybe around 5?) when the shadows were lengthening. This was also a great time to go because there was no line and I was on top within about 3 minutes of buying my ticket.

If you like good city views, you can't beat this!

“Roof top view”
Reviewed June 23, 2012

I have been to Rome before but never been to the roof of this building, it was 7 euros to go in a glass lift to the top and the view was great well worth it.

“Better View Than from St. Peter's”
Reviewed May 2, 2012

This is a new attraction on top of the Vittorio Emmanuel Monument. There are a lot of steps to climb to get to the level where the elevator is located, but the view from the top is excellent. You can see in all directions. Go after you have visited sights in Rome, then try to locate them from the top here. You are allowed to spend as much time as you would like up here.

“Breathtaking panoramic view of Rome”
Reviewed April 1, 2012

Despite the negative reviews of the Vittorio Emanuele as a monument, do not miss it. it is free, you can learn about the Risorgimento Movement in Italy in the museum and you can also have a breathtaking panoramic view of Rome by taking the new glass elevator to the Terrace of the Quadrigas (between the two bronze chariots on either side of the monument). There are views in every direction, including the Colosseum, the Forum and the Palatine. Prices are reasonable for the elevator: 7 euros for an adult, children 10-18 and 65+ pay 3,50 and it is free for children under 10. Open daily 9:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
Do not miss it.
