“Perfect place to stay in Rome”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

Very convenient location close to the subway, clean rooms, nice bathrooms, we especially LOVED the tiny rooftop terrace and the friendliness of the staff. There is a wonderful ice cream store (Mondo Arancina) just around the corner, my children had to stop by there every night before going to bed! The elevator is sooo cute and quaint. We've stayed twice already in 2010 and 2012 and if I ever go back to Rome I will stay there again for sure!

Room Tip: The rooms on the 4th floor, so the rooftop terrace is just a step outside your door

Simple but clean hotel situated near the Vatican and metro station. Rooms are a tad small but well maintained. Staff is friendly, courteous and accommodating. Breakfast is OK, however we feel that breakfast should be extended till at least 10: 00 am. Breakfast ends by 9:30 am. Also, the elevator is minuscule and the carpeting in the elevator needs to be changed (the elevator smelled of foot odor by the end of the day - I suspect that the carpets were masked with foot powder in the morning to camouflage the smell). Would stay here again for location. No parking available.

Centrally located to attractions we wanted to see yet small and in quiet area.On/near subway/bus route . Able to walk to restaurants. beautiful view of the city lights. We enjoyed a "perfect" evening on the 4th floor patio that we had all to ourselves, wine, cheese, fruit and fireworks(we never found out why) Visit the small church around the corner (you can view its roof from the balcony) each side altar represents a different country. Altars and stained glass depicting specifics of each country. Picture St.Patrick in stained glass atop an altar of shamrocks of Connemara marble.

Room Tip: Modern decor, clean room, breakfast area gardenlike, small lobby with a mini bar, helpful staff. 4th...

Perfect hotel in a very nice neighbourhood - not too crowded with tourists (we were keen to avoid Piazza Navona and its tourist-trap hotels). We were on a short break and it was just right for us as a base from which to explore the city on foot. Rooms have modern decor, are clean and showers are powerful. I would definitely book this hotel again when I return. Breakfast was absolutely great (cappuccino, fresh fruit, try the lemoncake!). We took our parents for their 60th Birthday and they loved it too.

Room Tip: We had the rooms facing the inner courtyard so away from any traffic noise. We also made use of the...

We loved this quaint clean room within walking distance to underground transportation. I found the street safe no matter which hour of the evening that we returned home. Our main choice for this hotel was to be located near transportation. We managed to go to all the tourist spots for a small amount.
The rooms had two beds and a sufficient closet space for our clothes. It was nice to have a spot to sit and relax outside on the roof.
We had a hearty breakfast as part of the fee for this bed and breakfast.
I was able to keep in touch with family over the free Internet wifi.
I would definitely stay in this nice quiet hotel on a return trip.

Having read the reviews and trawled through hundreds of mid priced hotels we settled on Gerber and my only worry was it might be too out of the way. On arrival it felt quiet but my fears were unfounded as there were plenty of bars and restaurants and the main sites were about a ten minute walk - possibly too far if you're not great on your feet - but the metro is about 3 minutes round the corner with stops at trevi, spanish steps, piazza navona - so perfect!

The room was a triple was we took our teenage daughter along and it was very generous clean and the air con worked wonderfully (not always the case!!).

The staff were friendly and helpful with any queries from booking a car upon our arrival at the airport - to pointing out how to get to termini and booking a terravision bus back the airport and running off our confirmation booking. The bus is worthwhile if you're trying to stick to a budget as it's just £4 euro per person and the buses are very clean and comfy. It looks like a scrum to get on the bus but infact as long as you visit the office and get your booking card to show the driver - you will get on! The limosine drive to the hotel was £50 euro and as we arrived later in the evening it was worth it to enjoy a full evening as just took 30 minutes whereas the bus takes longer and a while to load (allow an hour and get to the terminus early with a boarding card from the terravision office at termini or you won't get on!).

Breakfast was good with crusty bread, cakes, cheese, ham and cereal plus some lovely fresh fruit - to offset all the pizza you will eat later! Delicious coffee brought to the table so make sure you order it instead of the filter on the buffet.

There are small patios to sit outside but these are a little squashed amongst other buildings and not all that appealing (nicely furnished just not a very attractive view or location) but indoors the seating areas are comfortable should you have any spare time in Rome to sit down!

All in all we were more than happy with the experience and for 3 people it was very good value (260 euro for two nights) and having visited the busy central areas of Rome it was nice to be a short distance away from the tourists, stop off and have a drink after a leisurely walk home in one of the bars. If you want to be right in the centre it's not the one for you - but you will pay a lot more and probably get a smaller room with more noise.

Room Tip: We had a triple so choice may have been limited. We had an enclosed balcony situated at the front of...

This is a nice little hotel not far from the Vatican and near the metro. Very quiet area, spacious comfortable room with good bathroom and pleasant breakfast. Courtyard, effective ac, excellent wi fi and helpful staff. If the Vatican is not your main thing you may prefer staying somewhere more central as we found good food options were more limited than other parts of Rome, but I would recommend the Gerber strongly apart from that.
