“Loved Hotel Farnese”
Reviewed April 23, 2010

This elegant hotel, located in a quiet residential part of Prati, is a wonderful location from which to base a Rome sightseeing trip. The Vatican is about a 15 minute walk; we also walked to other places on the other side of the river like the Spanish Steps and the Forum, but the best news is the Lepanto Metro station is literally 50m from the hotel; we did get sore feet at times and it was nice to have such convenient public transportation to fall back on.

We booked a superior room with a *lovely* patio looking out over the rooftops. It was nice and quiet in this part of town and we slept wonderfully (which was not the case in the other 2 hotels we tried in Rome only a few blocks away. We wish we had just returned to the Farnese!)

The staff is quite professional, they arranged a convenient airport transfer for us via email and you can rely on their excellent restaurant recommendations (not the tourist traps that other hotels like to point you toward). Their breakfast is very good, and the room they serve it in... looking out over the rooftops... was very romantic, even at 8AM! The woman helping out with breakfast was particularly pleasant, and she makes a mean cappuccino, you only have to ask.

This really is a nice hotel and i consider myself very lucky to have found it!
Best thing about this place is the breakfast room on the 5th floor. absolutely gorgeous way to wake up in a sun filled elegent rooftop terrace

Rooms are not in a classic Italian style so it you're into altra modern this may not be for you.

Location is good but not in the beating heart of the centre...still easy enough to walk and in a very elegent district none the less. You wouldn't get a place this nice with everything included in the centre...

highly reccomended

My wife, I and daughter traveled to Rome last October and stayed at the Hotel Farnese for 4 nights. This was a marvelous hotel. Everything was first class.. the room, the breakfasts were amazing. I dont like small elevators ( which was necessary to get to the restaurant on top floor), so the staff brought it to our room every morning. I felt guilty because they brought so many wonderful things. The best thing about this hotel though was the staff. To a person they were absolutely wonderful. I have traveled quite a bit, but I must say the gracious staff at the Hotel Farnese were the best I have come across-particularly Andrea! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Rome. It is walking distance to the vatican, which was a plus as well

The best thing about the Hotel Farnese is the staff; everyone was extremely nice and helpful. When we had to catch an early flight, they thoughtfully gave us bags of yogurt, juice, and crackers for the airport. The regular breakfast was good, with fresh squeezed juice and cappucino. Our room was large and the bathroom unusually large for Europe. I would recommend asking for a room facing away from the street, since it's quite busy. The hotel is not located in a particularly pretty part of Rome, but it felt perfectly safe. It took us about 20-25 minutes to walk to St. Peter's Basilica.

This is the comfortable elegant choice for family and business travelers in Prati. (or Rome for that matter) My husband and I travelled with our parents and our very active 5 year old son. The kindness and professionalism of the staff calmly and competentl accomodated the needs of all whether it was recomendations for dinner, calls for taxi, shedules for trains to Tuscany, toy shops or the emergency room.
The rooms were quiet elegant and spotless. The windows are double paned, if you are particularly sensitive ask for rooms that do not broach on via gjuliu cesare. The breakfast room had a selection that included do it yourself squeezed blood orange juice, a barista & everything else that was delicious with a charming view of Roman rooftops including St. Peters.

We have been staying at Hotel Farnese twice the last 3 months and I recommend it. Great location close to the metro and within walking distance to most of the attractions in Rome.

The surroundings are quiet and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

A 2 1/2 days business stay in Rome with allday meetings and no time to see the city -
and I remember it with joy because of our location in the Hotel Farnese: a very nice atmosphere that starts in the attractive lobby, small but comfortable and clean rooms, very nice and quiet sort of residential part of the town (I even heard a wren (scricciolo) sing outside my window ), a lovely breakfast room (with a very good buffet of all sorts) on the roof where over rooftops and pinetrees you even can see St.Peter's Dome!
And very important: extremely friendly and competent staff, at the reception on that weekend mostly Sognore Louis!
