Excellent small neighborhood 4 star hotel within walking distance of Vatican and Spanish Steps. This quiet and comfortable hotel offers all one would need in terms of luxury, quality and service. We especially liked the location on the Vatican side of the Tiber but within walking distance of many nearby Rome attractions and restaurants on the other side. One block from a Metro stop gets you to the center of Rome, in minutes. Enclosed rooftop breakfast buffet was superb with beautiful view. Our room, with balcony was spacious, comfortable and very clean. A large bathroom with a somewhat difficult to navigate bathtub/shower, was sparkling and seemed new. The windows and shutters were of the highest quality, making the room remarkably quiet. All arrangements including transit between airport, hotel and cruise port were all spot on. Communications with hotel staff before trip was always timely and professional. The concierge on duty all spoke English and were very patient and helpful with directions and suggestions. Great value, and would return without reservation.

Room Tip: Very few rooms with balconies. Would definitely recommend a balcony room.

We stayed at the Hotel Farnese from April 30th to May 3, 2014 and we absolutely loved our stay. We were in Room 34, which was a large room with a very large bathroom. No problem fitting in our four suitcases. The staff at the hotel was very accommodating and had arranged for a driver to pick us up at the airport on our arrival day. They were also knowledgeable on local restaurants to go to each evening.

The hotel is located on a very quiet street and only a one block walk to the metro station. There is also a small coffee house right on the corner near the station where you can buy water, coffee, and a snack or lunch. Their sandwiches were great.

Every morning we had a wonderful breakfast in the upstairs breakfast room. There was an abundance of pastries, lunch meats, scrambled eggs, and cereal. And, we were made fresh cappuccinos each day.

If you want to stay in a nice quiet location away from the hustle and bustle of Rome, yet with easy access to all of Rome's sites, I highly recommend staying at the Hotel Farnese!!

This was a great hotel and if we go to Rome again we will stay here again. We were here for our wedding anniversary so I sent an email to the hotel asking them to put flowers in our room. A few minutes later I got an (international) call from the front desk asking a few questions and then confirming the flowers would be in the room when we arrived. The room was great and we really enjoyed the balcony. Breakfast was far better than I anticipated and the lady who waited on us was wonderful.

The only complaint I have is minor, the WiFi was very poor. They are using a HotSpot so the speed and connectivity were not what you would expect in the USA. However, I suspect that this is fairly common in Rome.

I marked the "Value" as average only because it was expensive compared to hotels in the USA. It seems to be a reasonable, average, price for hotels in Rome.

Sleep quality I marked as 4 stars only because our queen size bed was 2 smaller beds pushed together. The mattresses were very comfortable and the room was nice and dark and quiet at night. Again, this is getting very picky, the sleep quality was very good.

Every other rating is 5 stars, without question. Service was outstanding, the rooms were beautiful, clean and quiet. The bathroom was excellent, it was very large for European standards. The location was perfect, just far enough away from the more touristy parts yet only around the corner from the metro and a few minutes walk from Piazza del Popolo.

Room Tip: We really enjoyed the room with the balcony. I'm not sure how many rooms have one but it is wort...

Still kind regards and congratulations!!

This was a wonderful place to stay in Rome! Close to the the center of the city but still quiet and away from the crowds. We found we could walk almost anywhere we wanted to and got some great recommendations for restaurants from the hotel staff. Went to stay at a fancy hotel across town for 3 times the price for a business conference, but our room at Hotel Farnese was as nice, if not nicer.... Would definitely recommend to my friends and will be back to this property myself. Helped us make reservations on short notice for a really cool trip to Tivoli, too.

First thing we liked about this hotel is the location, about 1 minute from the metro station, directly connected to Piazza di Spagna and Piazza San Pietro.
The staff is excellent, everybody was very kind and helpful. We arrived at the hotel before lunchtime and we only wanted to leave our luggage before going to sightseeing, but the room was already available, so we checked-in at 11 am and this was definitely great!
Room and bathroom were big, clean and quiet and I recommend this hotel particularly to those who love antique style and furniture.
The only thing that could be improved is breakfast, as there was not too much choice, but the beautiful terrace and the amazing view definitely make you forget about this!

Choose this hotel for good location, great reviews and like the sound of breakfast on rooftop terrace. Was not disappointed. Arrived and was given advice on some must see locations near hotel. Very friendly and helpful reception staff. Room good with big bathroom. Roof terrace breakfast was a lovely way to start the day with a view of the dome of St Peters basilica across the rooftops. Well positioned hotel, about 15 mins walk to Vatican City in one direction, and 15 mins to the Spanish steps in the other direction. Also very close to the metro station which is really cheap and easy if your feet get tired from all the site seeing. The hotel will sell you metro tickets (1.5 euro for a ticket which lasts on buses or trains for 100 minutes). Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again if I came to Rome. Thanks to the staff for a fantastic long weekend.

We recently stayed at Hotel Farnese during our break in Rome. Right from the start, Andrea and the other staff members couldn't to enough to assist us in our booking, and nothing seemed too much trouble. They arranged airport/hotel transfer and when we arrived at the hotel, we were amazed at the beauty of the building and decor. Our room (junior suite) was tastefully decorated and had everything we could have wished for. The rooftop garden was another hidden gem, and made getting up early (to take tours ect.) for breakfast a lot more pleasurable! The location of the hotel to the main attractions made everything within walking distance (Vatican City & Museum = 15mins walking, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps = 15mins walking, and The Colosseum = 45mins walk). All in all, we couldn't have wished for anything else - thank you, Matt & Colette

Room Tip: spend just a little more and get the Junior Suite - didn't look at the standard rooms but out su...
