Me and my husband stayed 4 days at Hotel Smeraldo, one and a half week ago, and this was our second stay in magical Rome.
The location is excellent, very central so you can reach all the interesting sites by foot in any direction.
It is newly renovated and has a fresh look. Breakfast is top and offers all you need for the day. Fresh fruits, fresh bread, warm food, ham, salami, cheese, cereals, fresh croissants and pastries. The breakfast staff and cleaning ladies are very nice, but the reception staff needs a special thanks: Massimo, Leonardo and Pierpaolo made our day with their smiles and desire to help with anything. I received a bottle of wine in our room for my Birthday and it was greatly appreciated, and Leonardo sang Happy Birthday to me in the morning. We had the best time! We absolutely recommend this hotel!
Best regards, Paula & Tasos from Cyprus

We were met with a gracious and informative staff. Our room was very comfortable - not big but perfect after a long flight from the US. We were in easy walking distance of Heart of Rome sights. And the buffet breakfast the next morning was delightful. We hated to leave.

Return visitor - 4 nights. Hotel is in a great location in center of Rome within walking distance of key sites and places of interest. Staff are friendly and helpful and rooms clean and comfortable. Extensive breakfast on a self-service basis. Great value overall and looking forward to next visit.

We enjoyed the location, which is within 30 minutes walking distance to the most popular sights in Rome. We stayed in the main building. It was clean, unique & comfortable. The staff was great & they stored our luggage the day of checkout. We received excellent dining recommendations. We also missed breakfast in the morning but they brought cafe & croissants out to us in the lobby. We couldn’t e happier with this hotel. Highly recommended!

With only a week to plan for an unexpected Rome trip (our fourth visit), we wanted to stay near the Campo d'Fiori as we have in the past. Fortunately we found the Hotel Smeraldo located a few minute's walk from the Campo on the charming Via del Chiavari. A clean, contemporary small hotel in the Centro Storico, Hotel Smeraldo suited our requirements exactly. We were three adults sharing a room, which for us was no hardship. Rooms are compact as one would expect in this part of Rome, beds are comfortable, bathroom is fine (shower only) and has my favorite amenity -- a bidet!
The hotel offers an extensive self-serve breakfast from 7am to 10 am -- eggs, bacon, sausage, various pastries and breads, yogurts, cereals, juices, etc. and includes an espresso machine with coffee made to order. Wait staff are friendly and attentive, and there is plenty of seating. A similar breakfast on the Campo would cost 10 to 15 euro. There are two outside terraces, in the warmer weather there is bar service on the roof terrace. We enjoyed an afternoon snack one day on the 4th floor terrace, which was lovely.
Front desk is staffed 24/7 and the staff is always happy to help with restaurant reservations, taxis, airport transport, and general information.
If you want a central location where you can walk to the Forum, Piazza del Popolo, the Vatican, etc. within a half-hour or so, I can't think of a better place to stay for the price. We will stay here again on our next visit.
