“Fabulous Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2014

This hotel is so centrally located and the staff is so friendly that it is a dream. It is right across from the Patheon and looking out our window was like a postcard. The staff gave us great suggestions for resturants and directions for the places we wanted to visit. They called taxis' if we needed them and could not be more pleasant. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: This didn't have a fitness center or pool, but that was ok.

We chose this hotel based on location, and it was the best decision we made in Europe! it is close to all the restaurants, and main touristy spots. And the view- wow! I have a photo of myself taken from my room, being the only person at the Pantheon. The room was rather small but did the job. Breakfast was a short walk away, which was inconvenient when it was pouring with rain. I also loved that across from the hotel was a delicious gelato place!

The location of the Hotel Abruzzi is unbeatable-we had a stunning view of the Pantheon and square (Piazza della Rotonda) from our window. The windows are well-sealed, so that noise from the square was adequately muffled for undisturbed sleep. We walked comfortably from the hotel throughout the old city and as far as the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. We even walked on separate occasions to the Colloseum and to the Gallery Borghese, although these lengthier walks are probably not for everyone. The hotel is clean and well managed, and most of the front desk staff are friendly and helpful. This was particularly true of the woman on duty in the morning. On the other hand, our room was a little too small for complete comfort during our extended stay of about a week. We would have been happier to have at least one easy chair to flop into at the end of a long day of sight-seeing. Breakfast served across the square was only adequate and was too repetitive--after four days we started to look elsewhere. The entrance is a bit cramped; there is no lobby per se, so in some ways it's more like a pension than a full-fledged hotel. However, it's large enough that it doesn't have the charm of a guest house, either. Bottom line--we enjoyed our stay, and given the amenities of the location itself, our other comments are offered simply to give a fuller picture of what the hotel is like.

Room Tip: I notice other travelers complaining about noise from the square. We were on the 4th floor, which ma...

Albergo Abruzzi is located in the Piazza della Rotunda, just beside The Pantheon. Amazing setting that started our first trip to Italy. The hotel is undergoing renovations which were advertised in advance and did impede the view from our room, but we weren't spending much time there anyway! We did unfortunately get a room that had not yet been upgraded to the pictures housed on their website, but clean and comfortable none the less. The front desk was english-speaking and very helpful with check in and even hauled my extremely heavy luggage up to the room when it became available. The hotel does have an elevator, but it is located on the 2nd floor. Like many European hotels, the electricity was managed with the key and would turn off when you depart the room. That sometimes meant returning to a warm suite, but thankfully it cooled down quickly. Our room was booked as part of a custom travel package so I have no means of knowing the rate, but from seperate research I'd done - it appears the Abruzzi is very economical and comfortable for getting you close to all the "centro storico" action!

Room Tip: Our room was located on the 2nd floor or 1st floor of rooms and again, had not been upgraded to what...

We stayed at the annex which is only a few steps away from the main building. At first we didn't like the fact that we were not at the main building, but shortly after we felt as if we were one of locals living in a Rome apartment. We felt safe and had a nice view of the Pantheon. The room wasn't not very big, but spacious enough for our needs. It had a modern feel and it was comfortable and clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The price was very reasonable for Rome, especially when one considers the location. The nearby "Il Barroccio restaurant had excellent food. Overall it was a wonderful experience.

This hotel boasts an unparalleled view of the Pantheon, and is centrally located so that easy access is had to a variety of diverse neighborhoods. If you like to walk, most must see sights are no more than 15--30 minutes away.

Recently refurbished, lovely rooms have every modern amenity. Plentiful buffet breakfast in a cafe just across the piazza, which is even better than on premises, as you can enjoy your cappucino outside while you gape at the Pantheonn and observe multilingual multitudes milling about the piazza.

Staff are endlessly accommodating and helpful. (Special grazie to Simone for taking care of the window in one of our rooms and assistance with Italian grammar.)

Antonio's charm and graciousness are matched only by his formidable efficiency in all manner of requests.

The combination of location, staff, and price make this an unbeatable find in Rome. Abruzzi exceeded our expectations, and we will return without hesitation.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights in March 2014. It was an enjoyable stay for the following reasons:

1. Great location - 3mins to bus stops which take you to the vatican city (5mins from there); 15-20 min walk to the Roman Forum and 10 sec walk to the Pantheon;
2. Newly refurbished room(s);
3. Breakfast was acceptable;

You need to be mindful of the current building work on the exterior of the building, and as a result the views to the Pantheon from the rooms' windows were completely blocked during our stays there. Also, please note that noise from the plaza could be heard though it was quiet enough after 11pm.
