Remember it is a 3star city hotel, so it is kind of basic, but the location is very good.
We walked to and from the hotel to all the major sites in this beautiful city.
The rooms are fine, the interiors are a little old but it is charming somehow though. Our room faced the street in front of the hotel, a small homey street and the little noise out side did not bother us at all. Staff was so and so, some really nice and some not - but you spent so little time at the hotel anyway, so why let the staff bother you - just smile yourself ;).
The breakfast room in the basement was unattractive though and they could do a little better on the breakfast buffet - coffee is really good though. But there is a local bakery in the street, where you can go if you get tired of the breakfast served at the hotel.
Overall a good, basic 3star hotel with great location.

Located in a quite, safe area of Rome near the main railway station which gives you access to all Rome. The hotel is clean and comfortable, I had a single room and while the room was compact it was very clean and the bed was comfortable. My parents had a double room which was spacious. The staff were all very friendly and helpful in directing you to the sights of Rome and all spoke English. The restaurants in the area varied in prices but the quality was always good and the pizza shop next door was great.

Located in a nice area of Rome not far from the main Railway station. Friendly, helpful staff and nice lounge area. Has a great pizza shop right next door. It is in walking distance to a number of sights as well as the less touristy shopping and dining areas

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Medici during the hottest week on August. The temp was in the high 90's and floated on the line of 100 degrees (40 degrees) for our entire stay. Warning, This is an OLD hotel, don't be fooled by the pictures. The air conditioning was only in the hotel rooms, the rest of the hotel was pretty warm and stuffy. There was a broken sign on the A/C unit in the waiting room, so there wasn't anyone using this room, but no central air, only individual units. We stayed in room 109 and it was a decent size, but the beds are hard as CEMENT. I actually awoke in the morning with a pain in my back and shoulder from sleeping on such hard beds. The room and furnishings are aged, but kept clean. The room has a safe, AC, television and a hair dryer in the bathroom, that is it. The A/C worked very nicely and was a great relief from the hot weather outside. Our biggest problem was the internet, which free internet is one of the main reason I chose this hotel over others. The internet is wired all around the hotel, but the router near our room broke during the 1st night. So, for the next 3 days we had to go and sit in the hallway to use the internet, which is inconvenient. As I mentioned, there is only A/C in the hotel rooms, so sitting in a stuffy hallway was not ideal. We notified the staff and trouble call was sent in, but the internet was never fixed so it was a pain, when trying to set up online activities for the week, but we adapted. The elevator is very small; it can only hold about 3 people, my hubby walked up the stairs as I rode up with our luggage. Luckily, we were on the 1st floor. The breakfast was pretty good. Don't be fooled, the breakfast is in the basement (bottom level), not outside in the nice garden patio. There is an assortment of breads and pastries, cereal, meat, cheese and spreads. There is a machine for coffee or hot water for tea. The front desk personnel is sort of nice, but don't expect a fantastically warm welcome or any help in finding your way around the city. At the very least, they will call a cab for you. There are maps generic maps located in the doorway, that is it. The location is a 11 euro cab ride for pretty much everything( Spanish steps, roman forum, Vatican city), but is not walking distance to anything within 20 mins. The Spanish steps are NOT a 15 min walk away, maybe they are more thinking a 15 min walk to the subway and then maybe a 5 min ride to the Spanish steps. We walk in 100 degree weather for 30 something minutes looking for the Spanish steps, we finally just took a cab. The shinning star was there is a great restaurant directly across the street with fabulous food and a wonderful little pizzeria that is only open during lunch right next door to the hotel. Due to the hardest beds I have ever slept on in my life, proximity to locations and lack of help from staff, I would not choose this hotel again.

The hotel is centrally located in a quite area, and is very easy to find. We had a spacious room with high ceilings and comfortable beds. The interiors are well decorated, make you feel really cozy! They also have a small outdoor terrace on the ground floor, if you want to go for a smoke or for a drink in the fresh air. They serve cold breakfast, but everything was really tasty and you can easily get full. Excellent value for the price I paid - I cannot complain. The staff is also friendly and helpful, they let me use the computer and printer in the lobby without paying for internet or such. I am quite sure I would stay in this hotel again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Medici Hotel is the perfect hotel for visiting Rome: the building is close some of the major monuments of downtown, about 10-15 minute walk from the Trevi Fountain, the Quirinal Palace, Villa Borghese and Via Veneto, the street well known for Fellini's movie "La dolce vita", symbol of "the sweet life" of stars and jet set personalities. The hotel is also close to Termini Station, then thanks to the Metro and public transport it is easily to reach anywhere else in Rome. The Medici Hotel offers to guests large and comfortable living rooms: the TV room, a comfortable meeting room for 8-10 people, the breakfast room where breakfast is served as a rich buffet breakfast (during the summer months it is possible to have breakfast in our beautiful outdoor garden). The rooms have every comfort (Wifi, Safety Deposit Box, Telephone, Air Conditioning, Laundry Service, Tv, Mini Bar, Room Service, Private Bathroom). The Medici Hotel is located within the Aurelian Walls, near the The Gardens of Sallust, a significant archaeological site: for this reason inside the hotel are visible some Roman remains found during the renovation works at the beginning of twentieth century. The area is lively and well served by bars, restaurants, pizzerias and shops during the day, it is quiet and peaceful at night. ... more   less
