I spent 6 days, five in total, at Hotel Medici in Rome. The location, near Termini and close by the National Museo was perfect. The Hotel and particularly staff were fabulous. I needed some assistance to complete and fax important paperwork to my lawyer. The front desk went out of its way to send this off and make sure everything was right. That little "extra" moves the hotel and staff into a special thank you category. I wouldn't hesitate but recommend Hotel Medici for the solo traveller.

Room Tip: Smaller less expensive "solo" rooms for single travellers are available, but the price was...

Service was outstanding, room very nice, location is close to the station and metro station. Breakfast was indeed limited, coffee not very good. Nice is the outside area where you can truly unwind after a long day with a drink from the bar. In and around Via Flavia are some very nice restaurants. I can certainly recommend this hotel!

We stayed at The Medici Hotel for 4 nights in September '12. The room was adequate with the high ceiling providing a feeling of spaciousness. Bathroom was small but quite new and functional. The location was great, nice neighbourhood and lots of dining options nearby. The breakfast selection great, more food and choices than a reasonable person could possibly eat so not sure what some other travellers expect. Staff were friendly and helpful.

an average 3* hotel in a relatively central location of Rome. Breakfast selection is limited and below good italian standards, apart from coffee which is medium +
Overcrowded breakfast room might bring you some minutes of waiting to a free seat.
Rooms are seriously small (saw 2) even for Rome's expectations. Surrounding area is good and quiet with some options for dining close to hotel. Several of Rome's popular spots are in a radius of 1,5 Km, metro in 600m or 10-15 min of walking. Staff helpful, kind and showing a satisfactory level of professionalism and care.

Our room was delightful! Two twin beds with magnificent windows...to the ceiling, overlooking the lit outdoor bistro. the comforters were high quality and bed and shower clean and comfortable. Plenty of towels and soap. We had difficulty with our wooden blinds which were repaired immediately. We walked to Trivi fountain and the Spanish steps ...the location was perfect! The bakery acrosss the street served wonderful pastries and expresso. Highly recommend!

Everyone on reception are really friendly, professional and very helpful!

Rooms - tidy, neat, spacious enough. Interior is very warm and nice; furniture isn't old. Air conditioning is fully functional and helps a lot! There are TV and safe too. Beds - very comfortable!

One of the main advantages of this hotel is LOCATION. It's not far from Republica metro station (which is very central), the area is excellent - quite at night, VERY SAFE, not too many tourists, yet has quite few restaurants and shops within short walking distance.

Breakfast was ok. I would suggest they add a bit more selection to their breakfast bar as there is not much to choose from, but whatever they offered was high quality food.

Definitely EXCELLENT value for money!!! The rooms are not expensive at all for what you get.

All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone - whether you are travelling with friends or as a couple - it's a lovely place to stay without having to spend a fortune!

Our quadraple room was very small and we could hardly move in the room. The beds were very uncomfortable. The air conditioning did not work for 2 of our 3 nights stay and it did not seem to work in the common use areas, the reception for instance. The hotel is not so close to the center,as I got the idea at least. The worst thing though was that our room and the common areas were very dirty.
Breakfast was ok and the receptionists were polite and helpful. The area around the hotel is nice.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Medici Hotel is the perfect hotel for visiting Rome: the building is close some of the major monuments of downtown, about 10-15 minute walk from the Trevi Fountain, the Quirinal Palace, Villa Borghese and Via Veneto, the street well known for Fellini's movie "La dolce vita", symbol of "the sweet life" of stars and jet set personalities. The hotel is also close to Termini Station, then thanks to the Metro and public transport it is easily to reach anywhere else in Rome. The Medici Hotel offers to guests large and comfortable living rooms: the TV room, a comfortable meeting room for 8-10 people, the breakfast room where breakfast is served as a rich buffet breakfast (during the summer months it is possible to have breakfast in our beautiful outdoor garden). The rooms have every comfort (Wifi, Safety Deposit Box, Telephone, Air Conditioning, Laundry Service, Tv, Mini Bar, Room Service, Private Bathroom). The Medici Hotel is located within the Aurelian Walls, near the The Gardens of Sallust, a significant archaeological site: for this reason inside the hotel are visible some Roman remains found during the renovation works at the beginning of twentieth century. The area is lively and well served by bars, restaurants, pizzerias and shops during the day, it is quiet and peaceful at night. ... more   less
