“A lovely stay!”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

The Hotel De Petris is situated in the centre of Rome, very close to the Trevi Fountain. Our first impression was of a tasteful reception area and excellent staff - polite, courteous and extremely helpful. The rooms are accessed by way of a glass elevator that goes up through an outside courtyard area, which enables you to take in the old buildings around it. The room and ensuite were clean and very pleasant.
Each morning a buffet breakfast was served on the fifth floor, which had amazing views. A vast array of foot items and drinks were readily available and thoroughly enjoyable.
We would have no hesitation is recommending this hotel and would certainly stay there should we be lucky enough to visit Rome again.

We chose Hotel de Petris because it offered a good rate for bed and breakfast accommodation in the heart of Rome, close to a Metro station and just 5 mins walk from both the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps.
The staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful, and spoke excellent English, which was a big help to us.
Rooms are accessed via an outdoor lift, which you need a room key to operate - this could be temperamental at times.
Breakfast is served in the Rooftop terrace breakfast room - it is covered over and patio heaters are used in winter to warm the area, but it was still quite cold up there and we had to dress warmly for breakfast. The continental breakfast was plentiful, with a good range of food options.
Our room (a Superior room) was large and the bed was comfortable. We also had a small terrace for our own private use - which we didn't use because it was winter when we were visiting.
Overall I would definitely recommend Hotel de Petris to anyone looking for B+B accommodation in the heart of Rome.

After initial problem with our rooms (see 12 January 2013), the management went out of their way to help us. This says a lot to me and I would recommend this hotel to anybody. The beds are of a high quality for a good nights rest and their breakfast is of a high standard. This hotel is also centrally located for Trevi Fountains and the Spanish Steps.

Stayed at the De Petris for 2 nights January 2013. Booked last minute and chose this hotel due to the largely favourable reviews and we weren't disappointed. Paid £120 for 2 for 2 nights B+B which seemed superb value.

The hotel's location is it's biggest asset, walking in a straight line will take you to the Trevi fountain in 5 minutes, and the Pantheon a few minutes more. Around the corner from the hotel is Piazza Barberini which has a station to take you to Termini in a few minutes and on from there to the colosseum in a few minutes more for just E1.50! The Vatican is about a 15 minute walk and will lead you over the Tiber river.

Our room was adequate, good sized bed which was a little firm but comfortable enough to sleep well on. The bathroom only lead us to believe that this was a room for a less able bodied person, as it was actually a wet room with an optional sit down shower and rails next to the toilet, sink etc. Not ideal as you'd soak the place after a shower but it wasn't too bad.

Breakfast was nice, continental fare with meats, cheeses, breads and pastries, would've been nice to have a choice of cooked too but good none the less.

Staff very friendly and helpful, would definitely use the hotel again if we came back to Rome.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a proper bathroom, not just a wet room.

We stayed in the hotel for 2days and I can say that all the problems accept the telephone lines. The beds in the rooms are in excellent condition and the breakfast is above expectation. Shall return next time because of its central location in Rome.

Hotel De Petris
We made a reservation for the Hotel De Petris online. Hotel stated that we would receive a "gift" for making the online reservation. Upon arriving at our room we discovered that our gift was one snack size bag of potato chips.
Pros
1. a block from several bus lines
2.two blocks from the Barberini metro
3.walking distance from the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps
4.clean room
5.complimentary breakfast which included cold cuts, cereal, rolls, coffee, tea, juices, bottled water.
6.wifi in room
7.safe and refrigerator in room.

Cons
1.room was small 11'x11'
2.small closet (8 hangers)
3.no drawer space other than the small drawer in the small night stand.

The pros certainly outweighed the cons. We have found that in Europe the rooms are generally small, the bad part of this room was the lack of drawer space. We stayed in this hotel in December 2012.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for putting your impression.

We are sorry you had problems with the room size as if you would tell us we would change it with no problem at all. Clients have different needs so, for some clients 8 hangers are enough and for some others they are not.
Concerning the welcoming drink it is the typical italian appetizer.
In any case we are more than sure that next time you will come visiting us you will be more than satisfied about your room.

Thank you and Best Regards

We picked this hotel due to its proximity to the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. It became a perfect location and we would be happy to recommend anyone to stay here. We were picked up at the airport by the car arranged by the hotel, which made for a swift trip from the airport. After arriving late in the afternoon and having a quick search around the area on the first evening, we had a quiet relaxing sleep. We awoke to head do the breakfast area which was a magnificent roof top terrace that gave sweeping views across Rome. Make this your home of choice in Rome. The WiFi wasn't great but this was a common theme throughout Italy.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the building across the road from the reception
