We are 30 year old Male and Female couple and stayed at the Hotel Marghera. This was a Very well located as it is right next to Termini station and the service was really nice, breakfast was nice and staff were friendly. The use of Silver in the breakfast room was astounding. The staff at this hotel were friendly especially Paolo who was very helpful.
Only critisism i had there was no bottle opener supplied with the mini fridge but its not life or death. If you stay at this hotel i am sure you will enjoy it even if it is only for a couple of days. Its Clean, friendly and well located.

Stayed here in July 2006. We booked impulsively when passing, because we were very disappointed with the hotel we had at the time.

Rooms are very nice; our room had a nice looking bed and a sofa. Large nice bathroom, but there was a leak in our bathroom. Water was leaking on the floor when we uses the shower, and by the mouldy smell it had probably been there for some time.

Breakfast room was clean and nice looking, but the staff had a bit problems coping with all the guests - one morning there was no bread, no ham and no juice when we arrived, and it took some time before we got something to eat. But staff was very friendly.

The hotel is close to Termini, and that was very convenient for us, because the taxi drivers were striking most of the time, so it was impossible to get a taxi.

Nice hotel where I would gladly stay again, but in another room without water leaking at the bathroom and the mouldy smell from it!

Rude and uninterested front desk staff. Strange how the credit card machine broke the morning we had to checkout, meaning a dash to an ATM for cash. Beds were showing their age and the shower was so small that turning around was almost impossible. AC worked well enough. Only plus was its location: two blocks to Termini station. Not a terrible hotel, but would not come back.

Hotel is just steps from side entrance to Roma Termini (turn right as you walk from platforms and exit station. you will be on the correct street. don't let the map fool you into thinking you should take the front entrance, you will have to double back.)

Very clean, nicely decorated small hotel in Rome. Was not able to sample free breakfast since we had an early flight. We did have a short power failure (1-2 minutes, unfortunately while in shower:), but overall, would stay again. Cannot beat for convenenience to station & train to airport. Can also walk to the Forum, Spanish Steps, etc.

Enjoyed!

Stayed here for a week. Rooms very, very small. We were three elderly ladies who requested three single beds when booking. On arrival, found two beds plus a roll-away. Complained about the rollaway and was offered a third bed, the inclusion of which meant that the person in the middle bed had to climb over someone to go to the bathroom. Beds were practically touching each other. Impossible to open suitcase anywhere except on the bed.

Next morning spotted a larger room being vacated. After a lot of argument were given that room but charged €15 per night each extra for the privilege. And this second room was not huge.

Bathroom with bath and shower, but small.

But.... lovely breakfast room, beautifully appointed, silver service etc. All very carefully watched by staff who seemed to double as security personnel. One day when we left hotel and forget to leave key at dest, the receptionist ran after us.

Lovely trattoria next door. Meal with half bottle wine for €15. Ate there a lot.

The Marghera is in the Termini area. Some say it is unsafe, but it is always so heavily populated that we felt safe at all times. We wore money belts, though, as I believe pick-pocketing is common. However, that is not exclusive to Rome.

The hotel is very near station and all public transport, including taxis. However, if you are not disabled you can walk most places, except Vatican which is a taxi, bus or metro away.

I would return to the hotel, but there are plenty hotels around Termini which are cheaper and similar.
