the quality / price ratio of this hotel is truly exceptional. It is easy for you to find as it is located on a main road. Few walk is a super modern shopping mall and the historic center of Rome is about twenty minutes. It is impossible to go wrong.
the breakfast is of high quality, varied and rich.
the rooms are well equipped and some have a small balcony.

Room Tip: equest a room on the upper level and on the back side as mall on the ground floor, there are tour bu...

Reading the various reviews prior to travel we had quite low expectations of this hotel. True, it's off the end of the Rome Metro by 1 mile. True, it's right next door to a busy dual carriageway. True, the entrance is marred by the bin storage area.
Travel into Rome was easy; either bus or walk to Eur Fermi and trains into Rome every two minutes @ 1.6 euro per journey (various ticket options available)
We didn't hear the traffic at any time during our stay and it certainly did not impinge upon our experience.
Bins are unsightly but once past them you don't need to see them until you leave.
Pluses: Pool is clean (and in Rome a hotel with a pool is expensive), rooms are clean, food is quite satisfactory, breakfast typical Italian continental style.
Next door is Romes answer to the Trafford Centre or Bluewater shopping mall. There are some very good restaurants on the 2nd floor; four of us ate for just over 60 Euros inc drinks. The centre also has a large supermarket for any additional fruit or food not provided by the hotel.
We stayed for four nights and for the price we can only say it was very good. The reception staff all speak English.

Room Tip: upstairs rooms have balconies.

Had the pleasure of staying at the Cristoforo Columbo during the week of Aug 18-25. Before booking we had read the reviews and decided to take a chance on the excellent deal we came across and we were not disappointed. We really cant understand the negative reviews. The rooms were smallish (typical for Europe) but clean and nicely decorated. Service on all levels was excellent, from reception to dining room and housekeeping. Many reviews criticized the dining room staff as being unapproachable but this could not be farther from the truth. Yes, the servers may appear stern dressed in their formal black suits but remember they are professionals providing a professional service and they take their jobs seriously. In Europe, a career in the hospitality industry is just that...not like here at home where servers are paid less than minimum wage and are viewed as temporary or last ditch jobs. Both Stefano and Luca were friendly, efficient and very patient with our language barriers. Food was good and very reasonably priced, we expected much less so this was a nice surprise!

This hotel is located in a quirky spot when it comes to getting around by car and gps, but a quick jaunt to the highway and metro stops. I think part of the negative image is the entranceway...the driveway is located between a gas station and entrance to the Euroma2 mall. Also, the hotel should really pick an area behind the hotel for their trash containers...it was not the most welcoming sight having them lining the driveway and being the first thing you see. Once inside, the property is lovely with a nice clean pool and bar area surrounded by greenery, a nice garden area with patio furniture and parking to spare....for free!

Overall we were very happy and would return without hesitation!

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms have no balcony or patio area, rooms at the rear would be quieter due to bar and...

The hotel is not bad, it looks worse from the outside but the rooms are well, nice and clean. Swimming pool and breakfast are correct. It is located in EUR that is good place out of downtown if you are travelling by car. Good parking area. The problem for us was that it is a "hotel for groups" and we don't usually like that...there is much more noise in the corridors and mess in the breakfast time...

my partner and myself were very surprised by all the negitive reviews for this hotel, the staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke very good english. The room was clean and quite spacious with a newly fitted bathroom and free air conditioning and a balcony. rooms were cleaned daily (if you wanted a lie in and not to have your room cleaned for the day simply put the 'do not disturb' sign on the door, housecleaning was generally till 1pm so remove tag once woken)/ although the food on an evening in the hotel was not up to standard the breakfast was a beautiful selection of yogurts, pastries and cereals, scrambled egg was also avaliable.

The pool was very clean and was in a prime location for sunbathing, it was also quite private as it has trees surrounding it, the bar was open around mid day but you could take your own snacks and drinks by the pool. if you had brought your own towels from home then you could use them by the pool if not they was able to rent for 3 euros.

The hotel was roughly 20 minutes to the city centre via taxi which cost around 20-26 euros (this was much faster and more comfortable than the bus and metro) taxis could be called from the reception desk (do remember they start their meters when they recieve the call) the taxi drivers generally knew basic english but i would advise that you have a piece of paper with the name of the hotel on it and say that it is near the Euroma2 shopping centre.

the shopping centre right nex to the hotel was your average shopping centre that opened around 9/10 most days but on a monday opened at 12. if you are looking for cheap alcohol to take home with you the supermarket in the shopping centre is great for cheap beverages.

trips were avaliable from the hotel when asked at reception.

there is a 3 euro per day accomodation tax and wifi is avaliable for 6 euros for 24 hours (this will be added to your bill)

overall we really enjoyed are stay in rome and this hotel added to the charm, highly recommended!

Room Tip: ask for a room on the second floor if possible!

We had little trouble to get to it, navigation failed :)))). Once there, it was pure pleasure. Nice, green surroundings, nice garden with chairs, pool working until 7pm. One km away there is metro stations B-line that will lead you toward town center.
For those who like shopping there is EUROMA2 commercial center http://www.euroma2.it

We stayed here early June for 3 nights before going on a cruise. It was right next to the shopping centre. With a varity of restaurents on the top floor. Bus right outside to take you to the metro station. We managed all the sites of Rome.We found no problem with the hotel. A varity of contenital breakfast, ie cereals , toast, pastries etc.I swam in the pool it was a bit cold, but the sun hadn't got to it then. People do nit pick about silly things we found it clean & reasonable. We would stay again.
