“Great hotel, good position, excellent staff”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

We stayed at Baileys in August as a family of four including two teenage daughters. We stayed in rooms 503 and 504. Beautiful clean rooms. We had already read reviews before booking, so knew that rooms ending in a 3 were quite small. Do not let this detract you - it was more than adequate for myself and my husband. Ok it isn't enormous, but is very comfortable and has all services including a decent shower, Sky TV, mini bar and safe. The adjoining room 504 with interconnecting door is gorgeous and was the only one of its type I could find in Rome. The interconnecting room gives privacy whilst ensuring that you do not end up at the other end of the hotel to other family members, especially if your children are younger.
The staff, especially Gerald, are brilliant and speak extremely good English. Gerald offered very useful information about all the sites, restaurants, ice cream parlours etc. Our daughters were particularly keen on our bellboy, Eduardo - a ringer for Tom Daley which was very apt seeing as the Olympics had just finished!
Rome exceeded all expectations. The city never sleeps. Try to make sure that you visit everywhere at night as well as during the day. The Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, Vatican etc etc are beautiful when floodlit.
We would definitely return, but possibly as recommended by Gerald in April or October as is was 35-40 degrees in August.
Baileys is very handy for all the sites. Piazza Republicca and Termini Station at only 5-10mins walk. Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona are all in easy walking distance. Gerald arranged a taxi to the Vatican for us, which cost approx 14 euros. We bought a Roma Pass each which gave us free bus and metro for 3 days and the first two admissions to museums free of charge - best of all we didn't have to queue to get in to the Colosseum. We also used the 110 sightseeing bus which gives 48 hours use - we got one evening and two full days transport for 48 euros, so had a full trip around Rome to show us the sights on our first evening.
Our booking was made directly through the hotels own website, so we benefited from an advance web saver rate. Email Communication with the hotel is good, we always received a prompt reply to any query before our visit.
All in all, do not hesitate to stay at Baileys - we would certainly recommend it - a beautiful hotel in a ver beautiful city.

My husband and I have just returned from a 5 night stay at this extremely elegant hotel. The staff were very warm and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. They gave great advice on best times for visiting the sights and useful tips on getting out and about in Rome. The hotel is in a very convenient location for all the sights and transport links. Ther room we stayed in was very comfortable ,lovely bathroom (601) and was cleaned every day.. I would highly recommend this hotel to any travellers wishing to visit Rome.

My partner and I spent 4 nights at the Hotel Bailey in August.

The hotel was ideally located just a short walk from the main train station and within easy walk of all of the main sites. The street where the hotel is located was very quiet so there was very little noise which was good.

The hotel itself was very nice and as other reviewers have said the staff here are very friendly, helpful and efficient and went out of their way to help you.

Our room was of a good size and well equipped and designed in a classic fashion. The air conditioning (which was needed) worked well.

Breakfast was good-the breakfast room itself was very small but we never had a problem getting a table and the breakfast items were all of good quality.

There are several restaurants on the street where the hotel is located and we tried a couple of these and both of them were very good particularly Taverna Flavia.

Overall we really enjoyed our trip to Rome and our stay at the Hotel Bailey and we would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone.

My wife and I stayed in this lovely hotel on our first trip to Rome and were extremely pleased with everything. The staff was excellent and their use of English was helpful. They not only offered an outstanding room, but were so helpful with all aspects of our trip.

Room Tip: Book ahead of time and listen to the managers recommendations.

We recently stayed at Bailey's Hotel three nights while traveling with our college age daughter. Our travel agent had booked with Bailey's because we required a triple. We were extremely pleased when we checked in and found that we had two adjoining rooms and actually had two washrooms. The front desk staff was always available with suggestions and advise on how to maximize our enjoyment of Rome. We would definitely return to this hotel.

We were told we were getting a quad room, but instead it was one regular size room and bath and one very, very small room and tiny bath that were attached. The people squished in that tiny double bed were not happy. We couldn't even fit two suitcases in that little room.

The breakfast area in this hotel was pretty dingy and had no natural light - very dark and gloomy and not pleasant. The breakfast was pretty small compared to other places. This is about a 20 minute walk to the Spanish Steps, which is a long way with reluctant kids. We had some issues with the concierge (who is the same as the desk clerk). First they sent us on a wild goose chase. We asked for a restaurant near the Spanish Steps. Their directions took us walking for half an hour past the steps and we couldn't find the place, even after asking two Italians on the street. Secondly, we asked for a really good pizzeria. They sent us to a restaurant that had ONE pizza on the menu and was a fine dining restaurant.

The lobby is tiny and cramped. Taxi drivers had never heard of it, so we always had to show the business card with address to get back. Overall, we just didn't feel very comfortable or happy here even though the larger room was fine.
