I stayed at the Cambridge several times. They have recently done a complete renovation. The young lady at the desk was very helpful in getting me my boarding pass. She was also helpful in many other ways. The breakfast was very good. I will surrently be back next year. Vito Alesi

I recently returned from a 5 night stay at the Hotel Cambridge in the Termini area of Rome. I wanted a place to stay close to Termini Station having stayed in Rome before. I was going to take several side trips outside of Rome so I wanted to have quick and easy access to the station. This was the first time I took the Leonardo Express train from the airport into the city. Getting off the train was a bit disorienting since the platform is a bit removed from the heart of the station. If you keep moving inside of the station and walk in the direction of the lower numbered tracks you are walking in the right direction. Exit the station on side that runs parallel to track 1 and you will be good to go. the Cambridge is about 4 blocks away--about a 5 minute walk. Check in was smooth and easy--there is a small lift to get you and your luggage to your room. My room would have been reasonably comfortable for 2 people. The room was small but clean. The bed was firm and comfortable. Most reasonably priced rooms in Rome are this size. If you are there on holiday, if you spend more thatn one waking hour in your hotel room you are missing out!!! I stayed in a room on the level above reception, it was very quiet. Since the building is old and solidly built, I heard no traffic noise and very little hallway noise. The shower was piping hot. Be careful stepping down out of the shower. Use the shower mat because with wet feet on tile, the floor can be slippery. There is a small refrigerator in the room. Rooms are very secure since you need a key to at least enter the hallway on the level above reception and then a key to enter your room. The hallways are monitored 24 hours a day by reception. The breakfast is simple but nicely served. There is coffee, juice, yogurt, pastries, breakfast rolls, cereal, cheese, fruit, butter, and jelly. A few tips about staying in this area--try some of the small cafes located all around the hotel. If you are on a budget--shop at the Despar market at the Termini Station for food. Bottled water there is about 40 cents for 1.5 liters. I even bought a bottle of Despar brand red table wine for under 1 euro. It was actually drinkable! Enjoy this part of the city--it is awesome!

This was a very good hotel for the price and considering what you would pay everywhere else in Rome it's probably better than that!! OK it aint a top notch Ritz hotel however i have stayed in some very top notch hotels and this is just as clean remember Italian people are very clicky but a few smiles and a bit of a laugh goes a long way and me and my girlfriend really enjoyed our stay at the Cambridge. Its very close to the Termini station and all of the tourist attractions are within walking distance and easy to find the bar around the corner called the Oasis is a real scream and so is the banana bar were you can rent an ipad for an hour for 5 Euro the food and resturaunts close by is sublime on the whole a real slice of Rome. At an affordable price.

We looked at all reviews and searched for other hotels but given our budget, and in Rome you need a large budget for a good hotel, we decided on the Cambridge.

We found the receptionists and breakfast staff very helpful and friendly. All spoke English and/or made an effort to understand. The room was clean, bright, - yes basic but ideal if you are out sightseeing and just need a comfy bed, clean bathroom, fresh towels and a good breakfast.
The hotel is literally 5 mins walk from the Termini/train station - perfect for bus tours and the underground.
A few good restaurants in the area providing home made meals and family atmosphere.
We would recommed the Cambridge.

Good budget hotel for the money. Nothing fancy. Room was clean and big enough for 2 people. It included a clean bathroom, tv, and minibar. Staff was friendly and helpful, although did not speak much english. Great location from Termini station.

Hotel Cambridge is conveniently located five minutes walk from Termini station. This made getting around in Rome easy. Our towels were cleaned daily at no cost. The room we stayed in had a window facing the street and was too noisy to leave open during the night which made the room a bit hot.
There was no wifi in our room but some rooms would be able to access it - those rooms closer to the router, located in a computer room near the lobby. Free wireless Inernet access was available in this computer room. Bring your laptop as their computers are basic and dirty. A bad thing about our room was the bathroom. It was very cramped. The shower curtain was too short and the bathroom floor flooded when we took a shower. The shower heat and pressure were good however. We looked forward to breakfasts, located on the first floor and offered from 7:30-9:30am. Consisting of a bread roll with cheese, orange juice, hot drink of choice, biscuit and choice of croissant - you have to get up early if you want one of the highly sort after chocolate croissants :)
Hotel staff were mostly friendly and helpful. The cleaners and breakfast staff were always pleasant. I was a bit apprehensive about this after reading other bad reviews on here. From my experience there's one woman who works in the lobby who is not so friendly - though helpful so not a problem.
They ask you to leave your room key with the lobby whenever you leave the hotel. The lobby is staffed 24 hours a day so this was fine.
Checking in and out was easy. There were no extra charges on checkout.
Would recommend Hotel Cambridge for people looking for a cheap hotel in a good location.

stayed in the quad room for 3 days during our visit to rome.
this hotel is very basic, with no frills attached.i.e you get what you pay for.
but the hotel does the job in providing a tidy clean room with comfortable beds and simple breakfasts.
the main positive is that it is so close to the termini station and walkable distances to the city attractions. the staff were also very friendly and helpful and there are 2 computers in the lobby available for use.
the main negative is that the bathroom was very small and thus it smelt quite damp and moist
