Just got home from Rome last night. We were very pleased with the Franklin, the music theme was fun. Hotel quiet, clean, excellent price and we loved the location. Nice residential neighbourhood with everything you need close by. Ten minute walk to Metro, 15 to Vatican. Used the hop on/off bus from St. Peters Square to see the rest of the city. NIce to be a bit out of the busier parts of the City. Best tip - call the hotel and ask them to book transit from the airport for you. After an 8 hour fligh from Frankfurt, it was so nice to see the driver holding up a card with our name on it right outside baggage claim. Only 40 Euros and well worth it.

When booking a hotel in Rome, we dithered between a regular hotel near the Castel St Angelo, and this one. We weren't sure if this hotel would be suitable for young kids (1 year and 3 years). Needn't have worried at all, we had a great family room (the Peter Pan room) on the ground floor which opened out to the terrace for breakfast. They provided a cot as per request, as well as lollipops hidden throughout the room for the kids to find, and tiny colourful dressing gowns. There was also a DVD/playstation in our room although our kids are too young for that. Drinks in our minibar were also complimentary. The room took 3 adults and our two young kids - slightly tight but then we were out sightseeing most of the time so it was mainly a crash pad. The toilet had a loud interesting sound though! We just had to make sure everyone did a pee before bedtime! Haha!

The staff are very friendly, the free internet is a lifesaver, the music is funky, the coffee is made-to-order Nespresso, the breakfast yummy, and the whole place nice and clean. It's location is slightly away from the main sites, but within 15 minutes of the Vatican, which was our main point of interest, and from there we took the hop-on-hop-off-buses to do the rest of Rome. Nice safe neighbourhood with great restaurants and grocery shops.

We stayed here for our honeymoon, and we couldn't have wished for a nicer more friendly hotel. The service in all areas was excellent and all staff spoke excellent english (far better than our Italian thankfully). The breakfast was fresh and varied with something for everyone, and you could have as much as you wanted.
Other reviews have stated that music from the other rooms can be heard through the walls but we did not find this to be the case.
The room was plenty big enough with a handy mini fridge bar to keep water (or in our case some parmasan cheese to take home) cold. The room was always properly cleaned and the air con was great.
The bathroom was spacious and the 'power' shower and bath were definately a god send after long hot days walking around Rome.
The location was perfect for us, far enough out from the city centre to get away from the noise and hubbub but only a 10min walk along lovely tree lined street from the metro or vatican city.
My only down side for the entire hotel was that the bed was a little hard for my liking, but I'm used to a very soft bed at home so I'm sure it would be fine for most people.
We would definately reccomend this hotel. It is a lovely friendly and modern place that was fantastic value for money and we would definately stay there again if we went back to Rome.

My husband and I stayed in the Franklin for 6 nights and had a great experience. Our first night was spent in a room on the ground floor (901 I think) which was near reception. We found it quite noisy due to the concrete floors in the lobby, people coming and going and noise from a loud television probably in the room next door. We requested another room and the staff were extremely helpful and happy to change our position to one on the 3rd floor. Success! Much quieter and we had a peaceful stay from then on. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious and the staff were only too happy to help in any way they could. The disco ball in the bathroom seemed a bit silly at first but we ended up loving it, expecially in the middle of the night on a trip to the loo when you don't want a glaring white light! We even had drums as bedside tables! The sound system being Bang & Olufsen, is pretty high class so if you're a music buff it's a definite bonus. There's also a huge selection of CDs to choose from in reception. All in all, I would recommend this hotel for anyone travelling to Rome.

From a hotel perspective...it's clean, great service, great breakfast in the morning, very quiet, and comfortable bed. From a location perspective...it's about a 15 minute walk fro either the Vatican or the subway stop to get everywhere. Safe area and well lit at night so if you want to walk off yet another pasta meal, it's a great little walk home. From a theme hotel....bang and olafsen stereo and a cord so you can connect your IPOD and listen to the music. From a pure kitsch perspective...you wake up in the morning...you plug your IPOD into the stereo..you flip the switch for the disco ball in the bathroom..you hit the shower and rock out and you are awake and ready to start the day! If you want a traditional Italian Pension, then this is not for you. If you want a really fun experience..this is the hotel for you! I tell friends about the disco ball in the bathroom, and they think it's Uber cool! FYI -- I didn't post pics because there are a ton of pics that show the disco ball in the bathroom!

Firstly, let me tell you about some of the things not quite up to scratch here. Let me also tell you that none of this should deter you from booking in at this hotel. We stayed for 4 nights in room 901 which had an internal door which didn't shut fully and a toilet that made a funny sound when it was flushed and a shower with a little bit of a dodgy concertina door but none of this bothered us or impacted on our stay at all.

Room 901 is on the ground floor and very close to reception and the breakfast area so was a little noisy in the mornings. As we only had 3 days to explore Rome we were already awake ourselves so it didn't bother us or our children (5 and 10).

Breakfast was great with a good selection of pastries, fruit, cereals etc and excellent made-on-the-spot coffees.

The Franklin is in a quiet street, well within walking distance to The Vatican and St Peters Basillica, the Metro and a stack of restaurants, cafes and shops.

The staff are fantastic and absolutely nothing is too much trouble for them. They were extremely friendly and helpful, arranging tickets, dinner reservations and a shuttle transfer to the airport for us.

The hotel is modern, funky, comfortable and fun. The cool tunes and sound system in the room is wonderfully relaxing. The disco bathrooms were a huge hit too!
