Hotel in excellent position for all the sights. Staff very friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. I stayed in a single room, which was very clean, the bed was very comfortable. The only complaint was that we were late to breakfast on the first morning, and we had to come back twice as there were no tables, and there was hardly any choice left. Happy hour between hours of 6-8pm was a nice touch. We came over for the Rome Marathon and could not have been in a better positioned hotel . Would certainly stay there again.

Travelled here on 8th February during adverse weather conditions in Rome. Some days it snowed and evenings were very cold.
Hotel is in a very central location. Just off via nazionale!
Hotel is small (like most hotels in Rome). The rooms are not located within the reception entrance. You will need to go next door to get to your room.
Rooms were tiny. We did hear a lot of noise in the morning from cleaners and other guests. The shower is oh so small! I didn't have a problem but my other half complained about it a lot.
Breakfast was small but fine. Breakfast finishes at 9.30am! This is too early!! I hope they rethink this and change it to at least 10am. The coffee served at breakfast was lovely!! The two girls who serve the teas/coffees are brilliant!
There are some lovely perks about this hotel. Happy hour 6-8pm free drinks and crisps provided. We stayed here over Valentines and a card and porcelain heart shaped gift box with chocolates inside was left in our room that day. I thought this was very thoughtful!
I would definitely stay here again, if they would sound proof the walls...

Dear Guests, thank you for choosing our hotel. We appreciate your contribution. With disappointment we have read that your morning was disturbed with a noise. If you thought the room or the shower are tiny, it was possible to inform the staff on the reception. Maybe there was a possibility to give you a room you would like more. Also if you prefer to have a breakfast later, it was possible to let us know. We hope we will see you among our guests again and we really hope this time you will be satisfied.

This was our first visit to Rome and we were not disappointed by Hotel Caravaggio. It was well situated for the areas we wished to visit and we felt safe wandering well into the evening. The staff were extremely friendly and our room and ensuite were immaculate. We have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this hotel.

Before you make a reservation to stay in this hotel in the winter call ahead and ask the reception about the following issues:

- Which building number and room number will you be located if you reserve the room? From what I have seen, the room numbers with even numbers up to 30 are located on the first floor of the building right above the reception (although they have separate entrance points – throughout the day and night, receptionists open the main building door automatically for you to enter the room). Some reviewers are not sure if they stayed in the same building as others who wrote pleasant reviews (our stay in the floor above the reception was pleasant).

- If you will not stay alone, you may want to confirm that they can give you two sets of keys to enter the room (this was not the case on our recent visit – one key per room, regardless of the number of guests in it)

- If the weather is likely to be very cold during your stay, be aware that the heating system is not on during many hours of the day and night – ask ahead to learn when it will be on, depending on when you plan to be in the room.

- If you want to see TV channels in languages other than Italian, ask if they have added any new channels to the in-room television.

- Ask if the renovation work in another building in the same block is completed, as this caused noise one morning starting at 7.15 Am on our recent visit.

Once you arrive, since they expect to be paid at the time of check-in, be sure to ask them to show your room before making the payment – this is your right.

Overall, we had a good stay.

Dear Guest,
we would like to thank you for your voluminous review. We appreciate it. In the hotels which use the classic room key (not a magnetic card) it is common to give one room key per room. The last person leaving the room let the key at the reception and the first person who will arrive will take the key. The second or the third person is accompanied with our staff to the room. In our rooms the guest can switch on and off the heating autonomous according his needs. The short renovation works of the nearby standing building are already finished. It contributed to nicer view from some windows. The hotels have the right to make a decision about the modality of the payment for the reservations. Our policy tells that our guests can pay in advance at the moment of the booking confirmation or on the arrival at the hotel. In the hotels it is common. We try to give clear informations to avoid possible difficulties. One more time thank you for your time spending by writing your commet and we hope one day we will have the possibility to accommodate you again.

We had room 34, which looked out onto the street below. The room was massive: you could have fit a dining room table in there as well as the large bed. We received a free bottle of wine on arrival, which was the perfect touch. The bathroom is a bit small, with a tiny shower, but it was clean, which is all I need.

We had noisy neighbours, which isn't ideal, who decided to ignore the no smoking signs, so every night we received an awful smell of cigarette smoke - not the hotel's fault though.

Breakfast is poor. It was only breads, jam and croissants. There were a few pieces of fruit, but they didn't look that edible. There are only about 10 tables in the breakfast area, which were definitely not enough to accommodate all the people staying there, so we had to wait a bit to get a table. However the staff working at breakfast are lovely, so they make it a bit more enjoyable.

Every evening (well supposed to be every evening, but we realised it was dependent on which staff member was working) they provided a 6-8pm happy hour, with chips, juice and sparkling wine, absolutely free of charge. This worked well, because we used the free WiFi (only available in reception) around that time, after coming back from sight seeing and before going out for dinner, so received some nibbles too.

The hotel is located perfectly for all of Rome's sights. There are some really lovely restaurants on the main road (one parallel from the street Hotel Caravaggio is on), which I would suggest going to, rather than the ones immediately close by to the hotel).

Dear Guests,
thank you for your contibution. We are happy you liked our hotel from many points of view. We are very disappointed you wrote that our breakfast is poor. Our guests can choose from: coffee, tea (black, green, fruit, camomile), chocolate, milk (warm or cold), orange juice, corn flakes, muesli, cakes, biscuits, croissants, three types of bread, toasted bread, eggs, different marmalades, chocolate spread, honey, cheese, apples and oranges (fresh delivered each morning from the fruit market), white and fruit yoghurt, so we think our offer is quite generous. If you had problems with the neighbours from other room, it was possible to inform our reception. We prepare the happy hour (free of charge for all our guests) every day (from Monday to Sunday) from 6. pm to 8. pm. In spite of your remarks we hope you have nice memories and we will see you again.
