“Wonderful and Spacious!”
Reviewed January 1, 2014 via mobile

Our family of four stayed here a few years ago. Our room was huge and the staff was wonderful! The location was safe and walking distance from the train station. We have always talked about going back to Rome and would definitely stay here.

The location was awesome, the staff was wonderful, the room was great, the shower was super, I would stay here again. The wifi in the breakfast room worked great but in our room higher up it did not work as well so the hotel gave us a great bottle of wine to compensate. Very helpful with all our questions, walked all over Rome, did not have a car.

Robert was very helpful in every aspect. Room was clean and spacious. The area was safe enough to walk in night. It may be less flavor in interior design but simple, good to stay. It is walking distance from the terminal. It is also easy to take metro and bus to go to various sites.

Residenza Cellini is a wonderful and elegant retreat to return to after a busy day exploring Rome. This was our third stay over a number of years and we would never consider another property should we return to Rome. I recommended Residenza Cellini to a friend and they were also blown away by the value and charm of this establishment. It is also listed with very high regard in the Rick Steve’s Italy 2013 book.

It is located on the third and fifth floors of a large non descript building housing other businesses and private residences. The main reception behind a securely locked door with someone on duty 24/7 is located on the third floor and a lovely terrace with additional bedrooms on the fifth all of which you get to by elevator or stairs. The street is very quite and just around the corner from Via Nationale, Repubblica and a ten minute walk to the train station. It is a wonderful location with the Metro and bus stops just around the corner plus lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. We never felt unsafe in this area and frequently were out returning in the late evening.

The interior of Residenza Cellini is like stepping inside a chateau of marble floors and antique furnishings in the public areas and attractively furnished bedrooms (most very large by Euro standards) with hardwood floors and modern ensuite bath tiled in ceramics and marble. We found the beds very comfortable, the linens high standard complete with large fluffy towels AND the rooms are impeccably clean. A kettle is provided and the room stocked with complementary instant coffee and various teas. A reasonably priced mini bar and room safe is also within the room.

I cannot say enough about how professional, friendly and helpful the staff are. The included continental breakfast just adds to the value you receive here. They will arrange car service to pick you at the airport which I would highly recommend as it is only moderately more expensive than you finding your own taxi and then trying to deal with communication (if you do not speak Italian) and directions.

we stayed there for a week over thanksgiving 2013 and could not have been happier. we had a triple suite on the 5th floor for two adults and a teenager. very spacious, especially by european standards and clean. large bathroom as well. the rate over thanksgiving was 170 euro per night if paying in cash, 180 euro if paying by credit card. it was well worth doing the suite for the extra room as it didn't feel like we were on top of each other.

there was a king sized bed and a twin bed, a small table with two chairs, a desk with a mini-fridge and tv on top of it and a free standing wardrobe with a safe in it. the large bathroom had a toilet, bidet, sink and whirlpool tub/shower combo (the tub/shower came up high on the sides so getting in and out might be tricky if you have mobility issues) and hairdryer. there was also a tiny balcony off the room which was so small you could only stand on it and look out into the courtyard but it was nice if you needed a quick breath of fresh air.

the hotel is on the 3rd floor and 5th floor of the building. the 5th floor is the level with the lovely terrace. it was chilly much of the time we were there but one afternoon we were able to sit out there and have our complimentary bottle of prosecco which was heaven. the 3rd floor is where you checkin/leave your key each day when you leave and where breakfast is served. i imagine staying on the 3rd floor would be more convenient in some ways but possibly a bit noiser when breakfast is being served.

the lift is one of those old fashioned iron gated things that only holds a max of 3 people so be prepared for multiple trips if your party is larger or when you get your luggage in/out. we found it charming (however if someone forgets to close the door when they get out, the lift doesn't work until the door is closed all the way so keep that in mind as you get out).

staff were all great, Nestor at breakfast was very accommodating and helpful and Marguiry at the desk pleasant. breakfast consists of rolls, meats/cheeses, granola, cookies, pastries, yogurt, 2 kinds of juices, pizza like bread (no cheese, just bread and sauce), coffee/tea/capuccino. included in price so that's what we did each day.

Wifi was out for 2 days which wasn't great but there was an issue with the provider, not the hotel. they have two different wifi networks, one for each floor. when it was working, we had no issues with it.

the location is great. close to termini but far enough away (10 min?) to be quiet. a block of off Via Nazionale so since the weather was great, we walked most everywhere. maybe 35 minute walk to coloseum, 25 minute walk to trevi fountain, 35 minutes to pantheon/piazza navona.

would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

A friend and I just spent two nights at Residenza Cellini and we had a great time! Excellent value for money, very helpful staff and great location (about 10 minutes walk from Termini). The building is situated in a quiet street just behind Via Nazionale and most sights are accessible by foot (if the weather allows).

I highly recommend this to other travellers!

I cannot thank fellow TA reviewers enough for helping me find this establishment. It is centrally located to the Metro A line (1 away from Termini interchange) and all attractions for first-time Rome visitors (Vatican, Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, Pantheon, Coliseum and Forum). Our room , as well as our our travelling friends, was immaculate! I've very picky about bedrooms and, especially, bathrooms. NO detail was left unnoticed. The room was spacious with wardrobe and safe. Our rooms were on the 5th floor. There was a large terrace across the hall from us where we were served a complimentary bottle of wine. Registration, breakfast room and other guest rooms are located on the 3rd floor. Breakfast was included with a fine choice of meats and cheeses, yogurt, fresh fruit, pasteries and, best of all, fresh cappucino!! There was a small but adequate elevator (lift) for luggage. Barbara (owner) greeted us and gave us a wealth of information for sightseeing and restaurants. If you stay anywhere else, you'll deprive yourself of a wonderful experience at a very competitive rate. Keep up the good work Barbara and all staff!

Room Tip: The locked access door on the 5th floor is noisy when people enter late at night or early in the mor...
