“Wonderful Stay”
Reviewed October 15, 2013 via mobile

We were a bit surprised to discover the hotel is located within a larger building. If the front door is locked, you must buzz Cellini No. 3 for entry. The front desk is located on the third floor. The antique elevator can only handle three people at a time. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were very nice, breakfast was good, and the location near the metro was great. We would defintely stay there again.

We stayed here for one night after our cruise. The location is about a 20 minute walk to the Trevi Fountain. It is a quiet neighborhood and we felt safe here. The reception/breakfast areas are on a separate floor from the rooms. There is a small elevator though. The room is a good size for European standards and the breakfast was adequate. Our room had a small private balcony and there is also a larger public balcony guests can use. The staff was friendly and arranged a limo service to the airport the next day. Air conditioner worked well but did blow directly on us when we were sleeping. Better that than no a/c I suppose. All in all, it is a nice enough hotel with friendly staff. They recommended the restaurant next door, Target, and we had a very good meal there.

We stayed at the Residenza Cellini for three days before joining a Trafalgar tour of Rome, Florence and Venice. Our stay at the Residenza Cellini was so much nicer than the tour hotels, even though the resort hotels were supposedly four star and the Residenza Cellini has a rating of fewer stars. So lets compare, Residenza Cellini, quiet, uncrowded, large rooms, beautifully decorated, pleasant patient staff willing to help at all times, nice breakfast with time to visit with other travellers, good location, homey feeling. Tour hotels were all the opposite, except for location. The Residenza Cellini is located in a safe neighbourhood near the train station, but not too near. It is on a side street on a not particularly attractive side street and is on the third floor of the building. The entry to the building is not particularly attractive, but everything changes when you enter the hotel itself. It is very pretty and the staff are terrific (and speak excellent English). We really appreciated that they worked so hard to get us reservations for a gallery we wanted to visit. I might add of the six hotels we stayed at on our stay in Europe the Residenza Cellini was the only one where we had enough closet space and cupboards that we could unpack our bags. Also enjoyed the opportunity to meet other guests at a leisurely breakfast and get some terrific travel advise.

Room Tip: We stayed at room 1 which was very nice. It is not a large hotel, I imagine all the rooms are excel...

At first, I was just making a simple enquiry but was pleasantly surprised at their prompt response. Guess you do have to make your reservations early as rooms are limited. After u exit the metro, just walk past a Japanese departmental store n cross the street, you should be able to see the signboard. Just give the counter a buzz, and they will let you in. Although there's a lift, but do be prepared as the lift is rather old and may take some time to respond. Magry was extremely helpful as we forgot to inform her that we would be early. Luckily she had a room ready so we could unload our luggage. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast selection was decent but I would have preferred a toaster around. Do beware of pickpockets in the metro! They tend to operate in pairs and board the metro at the last min behind you. Be alert and watch their hands. Avoid letting them cut in between you and your companion.

This is a family run hotel. It is over two floors. The reception is on one floor were the breakfast room is and then two floors above reception are the rooms. This was my second time staying here and it was a comfortable stay. The staff are very helpful and the place is clean and comfortable. The rooms are not large but very antiquate. The bathrooms are all updated and modern and the beds are comfortable. The front of house staff are very helpful with check in and check out very efficient. The morning breakfast which is offered with your room cost is adequate and sets you up for the day. On the bedroom floor there is a large terrace for use by the guests.
The hotel is located centrally to shopping, restaurants and transportation.

The lobby of this hotel is on the 3rd floor of a multi-use building, which seemed a bit odd. The old cage elevator is also a tad unusual and very tight if you have lots of luggage. However, the rooms were great and the staff top notch. An easy walk from the train station is also a big plus.

Room Tip: On the fifth floor there is a lovely outdoor seating area. A great place to relax and enjoy the nigh...

I found Residenza Cellini in my trusty Rick Steve's Italy book, and went online to do a little more research. My communications with them ahead of time were all promptly answered, with helpful information. Even when they didn't have availability for one of the nights we needed, they offered to make arrangements with another hotel in the same building so we wouldn't have to move far, with the possibility that if anything changed in their bookings, they could accomodate us for all of the requested nights. We chose that option, and were able to secure the room for our entire stay. Upon arrival, we managed to squeeze into the tiny antique elevator that barely fit us and our luggage. It was actually charming though - all wood, with swinging doors you had to close along with the iron door on the outside before it would move.
Our room was plenty spacious considering space is at a premium in this huge, crowded city. The bathroom was lovely as well, with a fantastic shower with multiple spray/massage settings. We were on the higher of their two floors, which had a covered outdoor terrace right outside our door. It was a lovely place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the evenings when we wanted to retreat from the crowds.
The front desk is staffed 24 hours a day, everyone we spoke with was very helpful. They gave excellent directions, helped us navigate public transportation to best take in the sights, arranged a private car to take us to the airport, and even found us wine glasses and a bottle opener in order to enjoy some of the wines we found.
With all I had read of theft and pickpocketing in the big cities like Rome, I was on high alert for security. Their system of buzzing guests into the front, locked entrance, as well as each floor being locked with only a key on your room key fob opening it felt secure. We had to leave our key at the desk when going out - so there was no chance it would end up in anyone else's hands.
