I like when I find a comfortable hotel at a reasonable price. If you are going in and out of Roma Termini, I strongly suggest staying in one of the hotels near the station. They are convenient and have a hint of yesteryear.
At the Hotel Diana, the front desk staff is friendly and resourceful. The rooms are large and comfortable. They are dated but I personally like that. I get tired of every hotel looking the same. They offered free mini-bar in our rate, but do not expect much – one can of soda, one bottle of water and a bag of chips.
The breakfast was the usual spread and ample. It is served on the top floor. There is a roof terrace for the warmer months, a nice spot to be.
In Rome you do not spend much time in the room so for the price and location it is ideal. Public transportation is close or you can reach many sites by foot.
For places to eat check out La Grotta d’Abruzzo via Palermo, 45; il Tavolinetto via M. D’Azeglio, 46. Both are places where locals hang out. The owner of Grotta d’Abruzzo is old school. He is charming and the food and wine are not only delicious but also inexpensive without sacrificing quality. It is how dinning out use to be.
