Hotel Principe Di Piemonte
Ranked #742 of 1,270 Hotels in Rome
Reviewed June 6, 2014

We booked this as part of a cheap deal so we wasn't expecting too much. The rooms are average but the staff were helpful helping us arrange trips.
However here are some of the downsides to the hotel:
No towels in room and have to pay for Wi-fi which can only be used downstairs. The room is very hot even with air conditioning but as the room's in a noisy location, opening windows is a no-no. It's also worth noting the breakfast is very simple and lacks choice, there's only croissants, bread and a few cereals on display.
Overall an average hotel but could be much better if the things I listed change.

Upon entering this lovely, understated hotel, you are greeted by Alessandro (the owner). Extremely willing to help, serve, or just lend friendly advice, he is an asset to any first time or even seasoned Rome holidayer. He graciously spent a lot of time with us with directions, advice, tips and he even booked a fantastic local restaurant nearby (which was leaps and bounds better than the touristy ones!)

This place is more like a warm bed and breakfast, with real service, and just generally no unnecessary glamour that wouldn't add to the experience anyway. You feel at home here, with all the staff and services clearly there to accommodate your stay.

It's in a fantastic location as it is only a ten minute stroll to the Colosseum, Forum, Palatine Hill, etc. Also it's just down the street from Roma Termini which makes it very convenient for train travellers. We walked to a beautiful locally-loved Gelato Bar down the street called Fassi (must try!). Also we easily walked from the hotel all across Rome; from the shopping strips to the vatican and beyond.

We had the top floor room which has a generous outdoor terrace and is the only room on that level, which nicely adds to the privacy.

I booked my 2night trip with easyjet and for the price I was happy with this hotel. Very basic with bed, TV, bathroom etc. Good location, close to Colosseum and main station. I stayed there only to sleep and quickly change/refresh between my walks and discovering Rome. Breakfast kept me going for a few hour which was juice, coffee, croissant and a slice of bread with some spread. As a young person will appreciate free Wi-Fi internet (additional cost of 10 euros)

We originally stayed here some years ago and had the room on top of the building, a few steps above the third floor, with a patio and view. Based on this good experience we rebooked the hotel. However we found the room we were given on the first floor was nowhere near the good experience we recalled. On our first of three nights a Spanish school group was out of control until around 1:30 am... apparently celebrating their last night in Rome. The next night there was a new school, group, and guess what,,they were celebrating their first night... Reception were not able to help,us with a room in a different area despite indicating this might be possible, for at least the last night... when there was not only the school students but a couple next door with loud music and very strong voices. This was not a peaceful hotel for us in any way. We agree with previous comments about breakfast, wifi and aircon. Paper thin walls, 'take it or leave it' , rock hard pillows and no mini bar as promised in the booking. Never again.

Room Tip: The top floor only.... otherwise the traffic and paper thin walls might drive you mad.

We used this hotel as a base for exploring rome. It was great for that purpose, as we were close to a lot of trnasport links and had some resutrants nearby for the evenings when we wanted to put our feet up.

The neabourhood is like all itailian neabourhoods nearby a trainstation. The staff were friendly and helped us out at every turn. The room was just what we needed, though the breakfast was a bit low end, bread and cerial. I had to go out and buy some cheese to eat to make it feel substanial to face the day of walking.

overall id come back there, as a base to explore it did exactly what we needed

We stayed at a lot of hotels during my recent trip to Italy. It was predominantly for business and since we had to travel quite a bit we tried to keep the costs down while still staying at decent places. The hotels we stayed at were between 3-5 stars. This was one of the cheapest we stayed at.
This place was a good deal for Rome. We paid approximately 60 eu per night and had a decent room, basic continental breakfast and private, clean bathroom.
The cons were that internet only worked in the lobby and you had to pay for it. However, the internet cost was about a tenth of what they charged at many of the other places so still not so bad.
Breakfast was very basic so don't expect much, but again, at this price I thought it was still pretty cool that we even got free breakfast.
The location is near the train station. As anyone who has ever been to most of Europe knows, anywhere near train stations is generally where the crustier areas of town are. But again, it's also where the better hotel deals are. So I'm never sure why people get a cheap hotel by the train station and then complain that the area wasn't awesome. it's to be expected that you aren't going to be across the street from the Vatican.
This definitely isn't a honeymoon rental but if you want a clean place to crash at a good price I think it's a good deal.
