We selected Domus Australia because we are Australian and wanted to see what the Church had built. Plus it is about 10 mins walk from Termini station which suited us.

The staff were great to talk to and extremely helpful because the airline had damaged one of our cases and the checkin staff showed us where to go to replace it.

The hotel is built to resemble an old monastery complete with cloister type passage along the courtyard to the lifts. Our room was a basic standard room and was adequate for our needs. Somone staying for a few days would be advised to select a superior room as the standard has no desk. The room was clean and simply furnished whilst the bed was very comfortable and the ensuite well equiped.

The hotel has a rooftop patio but the weather was too cool for it to be opened. Would be lovely on a warm night. Below the courtyard and in front of the restaurant is another small patio and we would meet with other guests in the evening for a drink.

Breakfast is very good with a reasonable selection from cold to hot. Evening meals are excellent but expensive so we ate out most nights.

The hotel includes a chapel built alongside which is extremely lavish in design. It is like a mini Cistine Chapel and is well worth seeing.

We would stay here again if we return to Rome

Room Tip: Book a superior room if you require a desk

After a long day of walking around Rome, we enjoyed coming back to Domus Australia. The staff were helpful and friendly. We ate breakfast each morning and found it to be just what we wanted. It was nice having the chapel there too, although we only made it back in time for Mass once during our 5 night stay. There are also excellent restaurants nearby (make sure you go to Andrea's!).

Enjoyed our stay here. Very comfortable, beautiful chapel and we loved attending mass here during our stay. My kids devoured the breakfast bar and the coffee was great, had at least 2 cups at breaky each morning. Staff friendly and helpful especially waiters at breakfast and dinner. Rooftop restaurant has a beautiful relaxing ambience. My husband enjoyed a beer made by monks. We had a family room, huge king bed and two single chair-beds converted into single beds for the kids, were small but ok. Huge bathroom with lovely bathroom supplies and plenty of cupboard space. Only problem, the pathway from the rooms to reception were washed down in the mornings and not dried off properly making areas slippery and being white you couldn't see the puddles left and my daughter slipped and fell over twice.

very happy we stayed there, arrived late at night, staff were fantastic.the outside is just a typical rome street, however the rooms are huge, very clean and really modern. Really lovely inside, great location, got to the hotel at 11.30pm really hungry a fantastic pizza place 2 minute walk. Great shopping close by,staff directed us to everything, Cant believe it.. a kettle in the room, and vegemite for breakfast. Breakfast was great, unbelievable.Very close to train station. If I went back to Rome I would stay there again. English was very clear. Customer service was the best. In my 5 week Italian stay it was the only hotel that let us have late checkout, also theres a iron in the rooms, and washing machine if required. Thankyou tripadvisior reviews spot on

Room Tip: had room 104 was bigger than other rooms

We recently spent 4 nights in Rome and stayed at the Domus. The atmosphere was peaceful and tranquil within the hotel and the room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and went out of their way to accomodate our requests. The breakfast was great, especially after having had "continental" breakfasts at our other hotels throughout Italy for the past 10 days. The hotel did not serve lunch but the dinners were good. It is conveniently situated and is a 10 minute walk to the train station and shopping areas and also the tourist sites. The beautiful chapel attached was an added attraction as it was the perfect place to be for some quiet time. Would definately stay there again should we next go to Rome.
