Our stay at the Viminale Hotel was very pleasant. The hotel was located in the centre of Rome, but in a quiet and peacefull street (making sure we had a peacefull nights sleep).
The rooms aren’t that modern, but that didn’t bother us at all. The bathrooms were very clean and had everything you needed.
The staff from the hotel was very friendly and always willing to help. We could leave our bags at the hotel after checking out without charges.
The breakfast was good and there was a great variety! However they didn’t change the breakfast during our stay, so we had practically the same breakfast every day.

Overall the ratio price/quality was very good in my opinion, making it an ideal place to stay for tourists!

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in June 2012. It is walking distance from train station, but quicker to use a handheld gps as it cuts through pedestrian only areas. The lift only goes up to the 4th floor and we were on the 5th so dragged bags up the stairs and repeat this each time we went out but it wasn't a problem and kept us fit. Each level has an outdoor garden and seating area which is really nice for relaxing after a hard day sightseeing, private with good views. We had a good sized room with TV, writing desk, wardrobe, 2 large mirrors, air con, and sizable outside balcony from which we could see the markets at the end of the street. Breakfast was ok, good selection, cold boiled eggs, ham, cheese, danish pastries, cereal, fruit, yoghurt. There is no traffic noise. Our nice bathroom had a pink marble look with shower over bath.
The older men on reception are very professional and stern looking, no smile, which didn't feel friendly. They refused entry to our cousin, also in Rome, unless she handed over her passport, which they take copies of and hand to the police station each day. I felt this was a good security measure, and we just came down to the lovely comfy lounge to see her.
We walked to various attractions and used the red hop on hop off bus, don't use the green one, it's a budget ride.

I stayed here with my family for two nights in September 2012, and fell in love as soon as I saw the old lift which I insisted on using everytime even though my room was on the 1st floor. Our room was very small but very clean and beautifully decorated and painted. The bathroom was also small but neat and clean. The shower, although very modern with all the gadgets, was claustraphobic and a bit difficult to use. The tea/coffee area wasn't great and never seemed to have fresh milk. Service was scarce, but we didnt need much assistance. I loved the view from our window of the Opera. The location is great, within walking distance to Termini which is also the main hub of the Hop-on Hop-off buses. The free pizza voucher is a nice touch, affording us a great lunch at a lovely restaurant upon our arrival. Overall, the hotel is good value and I would return if I went back to Rome.

We enjoyed our stay here. The room was nice. Good airconditioning. Comfortable bed. Lovely outside breakfast area. Free Wifi. Quiet area. Good restaurants nearby. There were 2 things that bothered us. One was the breakfast. It was warm weather and everything sat out on a buffet with no cooling. The meats and eggs were warm even by 9 am. We did not eat much as we didn't want to get food poisoning. The other thing was the house maid stole 40 euro from our room while cleaning it. Told the man at reception and he said that we shouldn't have left it there. Well we know that but wouldn't like to have a thief working for me. Haha

My wife and I have just returned from a 3 day break in Rome and stayed at the Hotel Viminale. It's location is great as it is within a short walk to all the main tourist attractions but is lovely and quiet at night.

The hotel is very reasonably priced and is very comfortable. Our room was clean and tidy (the decor slightly dated) but ideal as a base for our stay.

The staff at reception are really nice and give a warm welcome everytime you arrive back at the hotel.

The free wifi is also excellent.

Overall, a pleasant base to see Rome

We stayed 3 nights in June 2012. Hotel Viminale is located very conveniently near to the Termini and nice and close to all the wonderful interesting places to visit in Rome. The outside breakfast terrace is delightful, and very enjoyable in the balmy Rome weather. There are many great cafes and restaurants nearby to the hotel within easy walking distance. Staff were polite and courteous and the room was comfortable and very clean. Perhaps in need of a bit of an upgrade, but all the same very comfortable. Would happily stay here again, and recommend for a good value place to stay in the wonderful city of Roma.

The hotel is located near the Colosseum (15 minutes walk) in a quiet street. If you arrive by car you might find it difficult to park as the hotel has no parking facilities and the garages near-by are very expensive (25 EUR per day). The bus station and subway station (Cavour) are within walking distance and are the best option if you arrive on foot.
The hotel building is quite old and hallways are narrow so it might feel a bit claustrophobic at times. The rooms are relatively small but clean and the bathroom was quite spacious. Our room was located on the ground level and we’ve had a small terrace which was quite ice in the evenings. Rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, which was quite loud and a bit inconvenient but it would have been difficult to be without it. There is also a refrigerator and the staff doesn’t really mind if you use it for your own food and drinks.
The breakfast was served in the ground level and it was quite a good choice of food and it is possible to have breakfast outside (which is really nice). The fitness centre was locked at the time the doors to it didn’t give the impression of something good is hidden behind it (in my opinion the fitness doesn’t really work but probably you won’t need it anyway).
All in all the hotel has good location, solid prices and offers good service if you are not too demanding.

Room Tip: Few rooms on the ground level have small terraces which are quite nice if you're a smoker or jus...
