Reviewed September 8, 2013

We spent 4 nights in this cute, very well runned hotel. Staff was friendly and everyone had an excellent command of english. Rooms were spacious, clean with everything we needed. Breakfast was also very good. I'd definitely recommend hotel selene.

We stayed 3 nights in mid August 7 of us and enjoyed our stay very much Great Location great room breakfast wifi and friendly service was so good we returned for 2 nights on our return to Rome. Greeted at an early arrival by Gabriel and offered some breakfast whilst waiting for a room to be prepared. A first for us in all the years travelled. Thanks to Gabriel Valentina and staff for making our family trip to Rome a comfortable and memorable one. We hope to come back soon. Best regards Bart and Renata Libera and family

We had to spend one last night in Rome before we left. Our favorite hotel, Hotel Alimandi at the Vatican was booked. A tour book said Selene was a "good value". It is in the middle of a crowded dirty neighborhood by Termini Station. It's hard to find a family room in Europe. This room was so small we felt like we were sleeping on top of each other with no space between tbe beds. It looked like it hadn't been updated in 50 years. The room was clean and the staff kind enough to fix us a boxed breakfast for our trip to the airport. Glad it was just one night.

Dear Pam K,

thank you for taking the time to write a review about Hotel Selene almost one year after your actual stay.

I am sorry but i've never encountered a complaint regarding our Family rooms, in fact i believe these can accomodate up to 4 people without the need of squeezing anybody in the room.

Regarding our location, as you can read from other reviews, it is actually one of our most important strenghts, i'd like to remind you and everybody who's reading us that we are practically right in front of the Opera House of Rome....

Anyways, let me tell you that many things have changed since your last stay at us:

Half of our rooms are newly refurbished and totally revamped, these are now called "Comfort" rooms; wifi works great since there are now many hotspots placed all over the hotel; breakfast is now even richer since we now serve bacon, italian salami, sliced hams, soft/hard boiled eggs besides all the tasty cakes, fruits, tomatoes, cereals, breads we still serve.

Please be aware, then, that the Hotel Selene Roma has totally changed from when you have been here in November 2012.

One last thing: it would be interesting for me to know why you have not put the same effort on writing a positive review regarding your stay at the Hotel Alimandi near the Vatican; since it was your favourite hotel in Rome i believe it deserved one.

Come and visit us soon to tell the difference from your stay in November 2012.

Best regards

My partner and I recently stayed at Hotel Selene for two nights in early September 2013. The hotel is very conveniently located minutes from termini station and the metro. We were given one of the recently renovated rooms - which was very well done. I had heard stories of iffy air conditioning in small European hotels, but this was not the case for us. The AC worked perfectly and within minutes the room was comfortably cool. The bathroom and shower were both good sized and comfortable to use. The complimentary breakfast is served in the dining room on the third level and features standard fare of meats, cheeses, boiled eggs, pastries, breads, cereals and yogurt. There is also a coffee/espresso machine and fruit juices. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful! The hotel manager, Gabriele, was very friendly and arranged a car to take us to the airport at 3AM for our 6:30 AM flight to Frankfurt. The desk is staffed 24/7 and all staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Overall, our stay at the Hotel Selene was very nice and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great hotel in a convenient location at a good price.

The cleaning was very good. Very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was excellent, unusually rich for a hotel in this price-range.

The location of the hotel is super - next to Stazione Termini and within walking distances to most attractions.

Stayed here for 4 nights in October last year for my 21st birthday with my fiance. Hotel was clean and tidy, the breakfast was okay and the room was small but had everything we needed. Wi-Fi was free but hard to pick up i had to move around the room to get it. Hotel was close to the Colosseum and so we was able to experience it in the day and the night on more than one occasion. We opted to pay for a guided tour around the Colosseum which we felt was a good decision because we skipped queues and i think we got a better experience hearing about it from a local tour guide rather than reading from the wiki book we bought. It was by far my favourite attraction in Rome. Hotel was also close to the termini train station and the metro was also close by for quick journeys to other attraction areas. Our transfers were messed up by easy jet so we ended up catching the train to the airport going home. Queues at the train station to get tickets were huge and it was lucky we queued the previous day to get our tickets. No problems although the reception staff were ringing us a good 45 mins before check out to see how long we would be and also a member of staff actually came up to the hotel room to check on us which felt a bit pushy like they wanted you gone. Overall we enjoyed our first time in Rome staying at the hotel but we was out most of the time exploring.

Dear Paige B,

thank you for taking the time to write a review about Hotel Selene almost one year after your actual stay!

It looks like that, a year ago, our hotel worked fine for your needs and you are also acknowledging that you haven't spent much time at the Hotel Selene since you were busy exploring the city.
Infact your review actually tells more about the city than your experience at the Hotel Selene Roma...

Anyways, let me tell you that many things have changed since your last stay at us:

Half of our rooms are newly refurbished and are now called "Comfort", pictures speak for these; wifi works great since there are now many hotspots placed all over the hotel; breakfast is now even richer since we now serve bacon, italian salami, sliced ham, soft/hard boiled eggs besides all the tasty cakes, cereals, breads we still serve.

What else can i say? Come and visit us soon to tell the difference from your stay in October 2012...

We found this hotel to be clean, comfortable & welcoming. It is well located & there are numerous cafes & restaurants surrounding it, also great shopping opportunities. The train station as well as a number of "hop on, hop off" bus lines are close by. The elevator is tiny but a wide, bright marble stairway is a better option anyway :-)

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a street view ... Lots of interesting people watching - well into the night.

Dear Judith,

thank you very much indeed for taking the time to write a great review about your experience at Hotel Selene Roma.

I am glad that you have found our hotel very comfortable for your needs and our location worked out great for you. What makes me overjoyed is reading your consideration on our 18th century's stairway: weren't you enthusiastic while climbing the stairs of a venerable italian palazzo? I personally still do it everyday, i am still enjoying it and it also keeps me fit.

Thank you again for the outstanding feedback.

Feel free to visit us again in the future.
