Lovely small hotel

Review of Hotel Donatello
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Feb 12, 2019
We spent 4 nights there a year ago as part of the Gate 1 travel company tour. Friendly staff that were very helpful. Nothing fancy, but certainly comfortable. Conveniently located to get to public transportation or walk into areas of Rome.
Date of stay: March 2018
Room Tip: Ask for rooms not facing the street.

Nice budget hotel. Location was spot on. Clean rooms and extremely helpful staff. Perfect for the budget traveler close to public transportation. Breakfast included with our stay that consisted of rolls, sweet cake, coffee and juice, just enough to send us on our way. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

We have just got back from a great week in Rome for my Partner's 40th Birthday. The hotel was always clean and tidy and we found that it was a good location to base yourself to see the sights. It was only a short walk to Manzoni Metro Station and Temple Minerva Restaurant up the road is a great place to eat out. It is about a 15 walk to the Colesseum. The staff were always very pleasant and helpful. I definitely recommend this place if you are like me and like to be just that little bit out of the commotion of the city centre.

Stayed in this hotel January 2019 rooms were warm and clean and serviced every day. Staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We had an issue with the taxi company and the hotel staff went to a lot of trouble to sort this out for us and even negotiated a refund for us. Although the area around the hotel has a lot of graffiti,As do many streets in Rome, we never felt unsafe, Couple of very nice restaurants in the area.

We are visiting from Georgia and Texas, the hotel is lovely. It's family owned and operated and the neighborhood is no worse (if not better actually) than half of the ones I've seen in Atlanta. The government controls when they're allowed to turn the heat on so of that bothers you they provided plenty of additional blankets. I was here in December and actually slept with the door to the balcony open until about 3 am when I woke up a little bit chilly. It was between 40-60 degrees my entire stay and the coldest part was the rain when the wind would pick up, in which case I'd just closed the door to the balcony again and be fine.
