“Great hotel, don't let them switch you”
Reviewed November 28, 2004

The Royal Court was wonderful. We had a superior double room, one that doesn't have a jacuzzi, but it was still a great tub with nice hardware. The marble floors in the bathroom were charming and the decore was tasteful and not tacky.

The breakfast was also very good. As for the location, many guidebooks will tell you not to stay in Termini (station) area because it's a "tourist ghetto". That may be true to a certain degree, but the convenience of the location cannot be underestimated. We took the metro (a bit crowded, but extremely efficient) and the bus (excellent system) and never had to pay a cab driver once--all we had to do is buy a 16 euro weekly pass for our 7 day stay. We saved a ton of money that way, and with the dollar falling like a rock, my fellow Americans would be advised to do the same.

As for safety, the Termini area is populated by many, many police late into the night, and I never felt the slightest bit unsafe, especially wearing a money belt.

While other neighborhoods may be hipper or more atmospheric, this hotel is just far enough from the station for a little peace and quiet, and offered many advantages.

One warning: our first night, we were told by the front desk that there was a problem with the toilet in our room, and we were forced to spend the night at a sister property, the Hotel Morgana. We were told the hotel was superior to the Royal Court. It was not. Closer to Termini, the hotel is only partially renovated, and we were stuck in an old portion that had furniture out of a trailer park. Even the renovated rooms did not look nearly as nice. The staff was rude and unsympathetic. I had to throw a fit to make sure we got back into the Royal Court our second night. While I don't know if it was a scam or not, be careful, and make sure you don't get switched.

After we returned, however, the Royal Court gave us a bottle of wine to make it up to us, which we appreciated, though we don't drink. If it hadn't been for that incident I would have given them five stars.

Highly recommend the Royal Court--delightful property.

The hotel looks questionable from the outside and is in a less than beautiful neighborhood, but was beautiful inside. The room was good sized, had lovely furniture and had beautiful fabric covering the walls. The bathroom was also well done with lots of marble and a whirlpool bath. We found the staff to be helpful and the breakfast and coffee to be a good start to the day. The biggest downside to this hotel is the distance to all of the major sights in Rome. On the otherhand, it was very close to the main train station so we didn't have to drag our luggage across town.

I stayed at the Royal Court for three nights in November 2004. The rooms were small but very clean. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is great because it is very near the bus and train terminal. If you plan to utilize the Metro or trains; the location is ideal. I highly recommend this hotel.

FANTASTIC!!! I did not want it to end! Thank you tripadvisor what a great website… If it was not for you I would not have chosen the Hotel Royal Court. From start to finish our stay there was perfect. The hotel arranged for me and my boyfriend to be collected by chauffer from the airport, which was a perfect start. The hotel was delightful; there are only twenty-four rooms which made us feel really part of the friendly environment and not just a number like the larger hotels. Our bedroom was very luxurious and had the biggest bed in I have ever seen! The bathroom had a Jacuzzi in which was great. The hotel staff was very helpful and could not do enough for us. You can even have breakfast in bed at no extra charge!! The hotel location is great, it is very close to the main train and bus stations so getting around is extremely easy. You could also walk to a lot of the major sights, which is what we did as the weather was fantastic and we could really soak up all there was to see. The hotel staff told us of some really wonderful restaurants locally and to this day the taste of the food has remained with me.. ‘bellissima’. If anyone is going to Rome I would certainly recommend this hotel. In fact my mum and dad have already booked a week there and I am trying to arrange a group of my friends to go there the beginning of next year! Ciao x (p.s. make sure you throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain as they say you will return! …. I threw many!!)

I stayed at the hotel with two friends who had never visited Rome before.
We were met on time at the airport and taken to the hotel by the hotel taxi service.
Our rooms were excellent and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel is situated near to Termini station which is very convenient for travelling around the city. There are excellent restaurants nearby.
We intend to stay at the hotel again and we have recommended it to friends.

The Royal Court had been recommended to my husband and I by a friend, and it certainly lived up to our expectations. It is a very friendly run hotel, with staff who are very willing to help and make your stay an enjoyable one. The Reception staff spoke good English and were able to recommend places to go, and how best to get there. They made reservations where necessary and helped us make the most of our six night visit with them on our first trip to Rome.

The rooms are spacious and very clean with lovely character antique furniture. We had a television, mini bar, and en suite with jacuzzi bath. The hotel is well sited. It took us about 2-3 minutes to walk to the train station and bus terminal, and we were able to use the hotel as a base to walk to the Colosseum and all the other main features of Rome. We were happy to walk about all day, and although we were there during the high season of October, there wasn't too much trouble in finding a free restaurant table, or having to wait to enter certain venues. The weather was still good enough for us to eat outside in some lovely nearby restaurants, and it all added to a fantastic time. We would definitely recommend the Royal Court for couples, families or business people alike.
