“Great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013

Hotel Bolivar is brilliantly located. Walk to Trevi fountain, Pantheon, Trajan Markets, Piazza Venezia, Colosseum, Forum and loads more. The standard rooms are small, old and outdated, but adequate for those who are out all day. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. Great breakfast with spectacular rooftop views of Rome. Free wifi. Peter on the front desk was always friendly and helpful. We were very satisfied with our stay. Thank you Peter

Booked a single room thru Booking.Com and it was so so disappointing, The room was shabby, dark and the most uncomfortable bed I have ever tried to sleep in. No hot water in the shower plus the shower leaked on to the bathroom floor. Little space between the bed and the walll, not even enought for a bed side table, had to put book, glasses etc on the floor. Good location however that does not make up for the poor accommodation.

A nice small hotel which is ideally located in walking distance to major sights. Reception was very helpful and arranged for taxi for return to airport. Rooms although compact are very clean and comfortable.

Room Tip: Pick a room on 2nd floor facing the front

This hotel (booked through Booking.com) was perfect for what we wanted and all we needed was a nice clean friendly hotel that suited our budget. We booked a car which had someone wait for you in the arrivals lounge, through www.romeshuttlelimousine.com which was 40 euros from Fiumicino airport to Bolivar Hotel.
The Hotel its self was smaller than it looked in the pictures, but it was very clean and had very welcoming, friendly staff. The room was also slightly smaller than we thought it was going to be as it was a tripple bed, and out the window was just a view of another close building (at the side) we slept well, and we had mostly peaceful at nights, until early in the morning, someones keys jangling about woke me up. There was no bath as advertised, only a large shower but that suited us, was not sure what the other rooms had to offer.
There was only breakfast avilable (buffet style) but there was plenty of restarants nearby for evening dinner. The TV had hundreds of channels, so you have to go to four hundred and something for BBC world and CNN (the only English speaking channels) I like to watch tv before sleeping :0)
The Hotel was walking distance to many beautiful places, closest being the imposing sight of the Vittoriano you can walk in 5-10 mins if mobility allows, but there is a longer way round with no steps. If you walk 20 mins down the road to the left of the Vittoriano building, you will come to the Collesium. But we used the 'city hop-on-hop-off bus' for 2 days which took us every where, including the Vatican. You can pick it up down the road at right side of the Vittoriano building, or in town.
We could'nt see how this is a four star, but it served our purpose as we spent all day every day out admiring the beautiful city!

This is a lovely hotel with nice and comfortable rooms and helpful and efficient staff. The hotel arranged for a car to pick us up at the airport which was fantastic. the location cannot be better close all the main attractions.I would love to stay at this hotel again if ever I am back in Rome. Thanks Bolivar

I don't understand how they can say that hotel bolivar is a 4 stars hotel. First of all the room was completely different from the pictures on their website. Room was small, in the double room the space was enough just for one person. We stayed 3 days and we never had hot water in the shower. Mattress was very old and uncomfortable.

This place is in an excellent location and we found it to be of good value for money.
The room was comfortable (small relative to US standards but larger than what I expected after seeing rooms in Paris). Our sliding door to the bathroom was not working smoothly but I expect that it will be fixed as I have mentioned it to them. One other suggestion I made is that the bathroom needs some shelf space for clothing and toiletries (for shaving, makeup etc). There is no place to keep these items while showering.
As far as cleanliness, it was very good and so was the service. We also appreciated the fine restaurant recommendations from the staff (Pitrucci restaurant next door, and Alfredo's near Piazza Navona). The quick taxi service from the front desk was also very useful. We also loved eating breakfast in the terrace restaurant with a pleasant view.

We hope we will be able to visit Rome again in the future.
