“Great location and value”
Reviewed June 8, 2011

I visited Rome for the first time, traveling with a girlfriend. As two young women, we worried about safety as we traveled in a country where neither of us knew the language. Staying at this hotel was a great choice. It was centrally located to many attractions (we only once took the subway, and walked everywhere else to/from the hotel). It's also located near the train station, which is convenient for many (we flew). There are many restaurants and shops in this neighborhood, and we felt comfortable walking alone at night. Additionally, the staff was professional, knew quite a bit of English, and were friendly. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and attractive. In choosing a room, my friend was concerned about safety--break-ins, or feeling like a "skeevy" hotel staff would take from our room, and we definitely felt safe leaving valuables here. The hotel's rooftop patio bar was gorgeous, with views of the city and lots of flowers, a wonderful environment, especially at sunset. Included with the price of our room was breakfast each morning, which was plentiful in choices and food. Overall, a GREAT, exceptional experience, we would both come back here in the future.

There's no denying the awesome location and the cleanliness but the price-quality ratio is to be debated. Depends on what your requirements are, but if you are fond of working internet connection, fresh morning cappuccino or more than one international tv channel, this is not your choice.

We stayed for four nights in a triple room which consisted of two twin beds and a good size sofa bed. The room was outdated but decent size. It had a desk, a wobbly two door wardrobe, two nightstands, a minibar and a small TV. The only non-Italian channel we had was CNN with poor picture quality. The bathroom was spacious. However the shower was tiny with the shower curtain clinging to your body.

By far the worst thing was the so-called internet connection. It is wireless but we could not log on with more than one device at a time and it is very slow. From the front desk you get a printed paper with a username and a password on it which allows you to use the internet for 24h from the first login. Every day you had to get new usernames and passwords which you had to insert every time you wanted to access the internet, they could not be saved in any way. Some of the passwords worked just once and after fifteen minutes of surfing it lost the connection and refused the password was supposed to work for 24h and you had to run downstairs to ask for a new piece of paper. In the lobby they had three computers which also needed the login which was good for one hour at a time.

When it was time to charge the camera battery we found that the room had only three inconveniently placed sockets: one in the bathroom, one behind the desk for the TV and one behind the other nightstand by the floor. You had to choose whether to have the TV or desk light on with the desk socket.

The room was very clean and nothing was stolen. However all towels and soaps were changed every day no matter where you had placed them. Seemed very unnecessary. Even though our window faced the street with a construction underway soundproofing worked and we got a good nights sleep every night. Sounds from other rooms could be heard though, but not badly. Airconditioning wasn't working all the time, there was some problem with the controls. We had to contact the reception four times before it was somewhat fixed.

The breakfast was ok, no fresh fruit or vegetables (e.g. cucumber or tomato) though. Three different juices, bad quality machine coffee (espresso or cappuccino), croissants, breakfast rolls, toast, marmalade, chocolate spread, butter, one kind of cream cheese, one kind of ham, machine yogurt, muesli, cereal and canned pineapple/peach/plums. Breakfast was ok but still lacked freshness.

Ok but overpriced; would not stay again nor recommend.

I stayed in Hotel Nord Nuova Roma from 2 to 8 May 2011. Cleanliness and comfort of the hotel are very good, consistent with the business proposal. The breakfast is also very good, especially considering how low European standard for that meal. There was even a gluten free snack, offered to celiac customers. As for services, my husband and I do the kind of independent tourists, so we didn't schedule any tour through the hotel. So we cann't say anything about it. For this reason we chose a hotel near the train station, bus terminal and the subway, which assured us the agility to get around town. Another quality hotel: good location.
However, the last day, we experienced an unpleasant situation. We asked the clerk to schedule a taxi to take us to the airport at 3:00 am. The hotel clerk told us it would cost 50 euros. Upon arriving at the airport, the driver charged us 60 euros. We paid the amount charged to avoid hassles. However, I was upset and wrote to the hotel to tell them what happened. The hotel apologized for the robbery of the driver, notified the taxi company and repaid us 10 euros by post.
I was touched by the honesty of the hotel and the attention given to the customer. Therefore, I recommend the Nord Nuova Roma for any tourist who expect comfort, good location and excellent service in Rome.

Room Tip: All rooms have soundproof windows.

Great location within a walking distance from all the main city landmarks, great bar at the top of the hotel with great views, really good breakfast, good quality and eat as much as you like, polite and helpful staff, clean rooms, nothing ti complain about. The only reason I gave it a 4, is because it lacks luxury, but I got what I paid for!

Great location, easy to find. Good Chinese restaurant across the road. Great Italian roof top dining across too.

This hotel is very well located near the train station, almost in front of the bus terminal.
The room was spacious, beds were comfortable and the bathroom clean. Though the room was facing the street, we didn't hear sound of cars passing outside, which is a plus to the sleep quality.
Breakfast was average. Could have been better, given the overall high quality of Roman food.
The hotel advertises it has free high-speed WI-FI in the rooms, however the connection speed is extremely poor. If you lose your patience trying to connect to the WI-FI, they offer 3 computers near the reception with decent wired connection.

The two pluses of the hotel are its location and a sufficient breakfast which is a rare thing to find in Rome. Tried to squeeze us in a prison- cell-sized room at first but after our request changed a room onto a bigger one, though, not much bigger. Our window faced the street which is a little bit noisy but bearable.
On the whole, the hotel would be ok if not for its price. For that price you would expect more than just a good location.
