“Perfect base to explore Rome”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

My friend and I stayed here in September for 3 nights, I cannot fault the service, cleanliness or location of the Amaranto Romano. Our host Radu was so kind and upon our arrival he asked us our plans for Rome and drew a detailed map for us to each location we planned to visit - his map was accurate and easy to follow. We told Radu we were big foodies and he recommended we visit a place called 'Eataly'- we did and we were not disappointed. Its a gourmet food market, we stocked and eat our purchases outside the Colosseum.
Although the b&b was full we didn't see any other guests, nor did we hear any noise, well apart from being woken up late morning by the charming bell ringing from the churches.

The rooms are tasteful, clean and the b&b is very quiet and in a fantastic location (close to main rail station, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Colosseum- great value for money. I will stay here again if I go to Rome and have already recommended it many.

Amaranto Romano is one of the best B&B I have ever stayed. Rooms are clean and light, and location is great. It's in the heart of Rome, so you can walk around the city from there very easily. There is also a tube station, Termini Central, at 5-10 minutes walk.
Nadia, the owner, is really sweet and friendly and Radú is an amazing host. As soon as we arrive, he gave us a detailed map and lots of advices on good places to eat authentic Italian food away from the crowd.
I organised the trip as a surprise birthday present for my husband and booked the room after reading plenty of excellent reviews. I'm happy to say that Amaranto Romano is the perfect holiday shelter. I highly recommend it... I definitely will stay here next time I visit Rome.

We have made reservations for Amaranto Romano after reading plenty of excellent reviews and we are proud to write one ourselves.
We arrived in Rome for a 6 day vacation. Upon arrival, Radu instantly gave us a detailed map with the "must see" sites, restaurants, bars and bus/metro lines.
The rooms are very clean and well equipped. Free Wifi works excellent, and so the TV and air conditioning.
Both Nadia and Radu were very welcoming and pleasant, greeting us at any time, making the B&B feel like another home.
The rooms are very quiet even though the B&B is located on a main street.
There is a free refreshment area in the lobby, where you can fix yourself tea or coffee whenever you like.
The location is excellent, very close to Termini (10 min walk), super close to the metro/bus stations. With a short walk you can get to the city center: Piazza Venezia, Piazza Navona, Campo del fiuri and so on.
In conclusion, we've had a great time and recommend Amaranto Romano to everyone.

We stayed 3 nights in a superior double room and it was a great choice. We normally don't stay at B&Bs, but nice hotels in Rome are so expensive and if you're going to be out seeing the city most of the day anyway, it's hard to justify the high cost for amenities you probably won't use. I'd recommend Amaranto Romano and would stay here again.

Pros:
* good location - close to train station (but not too close!), close to metro, easy walking distance to most attractions/landmarks
* safe & secure - you'll have to use 5 keys to get from the street to your room, so we felt safe; not sure if all B&Bs in Rome are like this
* clean, nice-sized room with large bathroom
* great restaurant, transport and sightseeing advice from Radu - he's very helpful, just ask!
* quiet room - no noise from Via Nazionale or other rooms
* free wifi that works well
* free breakfast

Cons:
* front desk only seemed to be staffed ~7am-5pm, but there is a number to call if you need help (you'll need your own phone though)
* no mini-fridge in rooms - it would be a nice addition to let guests keep drinks cold
* sitting area in superior double room isn't really very usable space - it's really a small, separate room; nice to have a little more room, but all we really found it useful for was storing our suitcases
* bathroom toiletries are just soap and bath gel, so bring your own shampoo, conditioner and lotion
* breakfast is downstairs at a bar a few doors down, and the service there was not very friendly

If you don't need all the amenities of a larger hotel, this is a great choice for a stay in Rome!

Room Tip: The double superior room might not be worth the extra money

This is a gorgeous B&B, unfortunately we never got to try the breakfast (slept-in), so can't comment. For being on Via Nazionale this place was very quiet! We didn't even hear the other occupants (except for the quiet hum of running showers). Although I'm sure arriving back late at night from Travestere probably awoke the lady in the adjoining room. The layout of the bathroom was great, the house-keeping very efficient, the room was large (comfortable for 3 ppl, one couple and one loner), there was a separation between the third sleeping spot and the King bed.

Radu was a legend. He did absolutely everything from reception, to cleaning, to booking tickets, and information desk. He explained how to walk around absolutely everywhere, how to take public transport, etcetra. Beds were very comfy for me, the headboards (although beautiful) were annoying as they weren't attached, so Radu put them in storage, and although I found the beds to be comfy, my partner is over 6ft and he didn't - his feet hung off the edge. The room was slightly more expensive than what we were looking for, and the small lift was strange, but was a great experience and for the quality we experienced, we would spend the money again if we had to. Still a great find and will definitely only stay here on our next visit to Rome.

Room Tip: The three-person rooms were great, these may also double as the slightly more expensive option for t...

We stayed here for two nights with our two children age 13 and 16. The bed and breakfast is located on the fifth floor. It actually looked like a big apartment that must have been divided in to many rooms, all with their own bathroom..The location was safe and central. We walked everywhere. The room was well air conditioned in 40 degree Rome heat. The air conditioner was quiet and fully functioning. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was nice.We opted out of the breakfast and found a grocery store two blocks away on Nationale where we grabbed some breakfast.Radu the manager was very helpful in suggestions for how to navigate Rome.Dont miss Trastevere area at night really great for the whole family.

Actually I do nothave very high hopes on the staying conditions of B&Bs till I came to Amaranto Romano. This place really changed my perspective.

We are a bit lost and took some time before we found the place. It's location is actually very near Roma Termini. Just a tip - try to figure out your actual location with the map before moving and it will quite thereafter.

Radhu was there to welcome us and we were his last guests for the day. He stayed waiting for us though it was passed his office hour.

First of all the place is a very safe place to stay in. No worries for those who are particular about security and safety. There are a total of two security gantries - the main door & then the gate of which both needs keys to be opened before you will reach the lobby.

Secondly, the place is very clean, neat and always smell nice and refreshing.

Thirdly, the place provides free flow of beverages (a range of teas and coffee), water and snacks. Btw, just for your information, we are told that the tap water is drinkable.

Lastly, Radhu has been very helpful and hospitable throughout our stay there. After he was done with all the administration stuff, he then reached out for the map of Rome and started highlighting out the places of interests and the buses that can bring us there. He has also recommended a few restaurants to us that are quite good.

I have really enjoyed my stay here and I believe I will stay here again if I'm back to Rome. :)
