Super friendly, helpful, and accommodating staff (specially the guys). Both guys speak perfect English and go out of their way to help you. The girls also try very hard and when they don't understand you or don't know the answer to the question, they try finding you answers.

The hotel itself is like most Roman buildings, a little outdated and small but very cozy. The rooms are immaculately clean and the service staff makes sure the room is spotless by the time they're done. I stayed at this hotel for 10 days in October and I had no problems. Although I read in some reviews that some showers are small, I did not have that problem. We didn't need the AC that much, since it was October but it worked well. The room came with a small refrigerator and a coffee maker and the staff made sure we had sugar, coffee and tea, in case we needed to make some.

The breakfast is what makes it a truly Westerner's heaven. Breakfast throughout Italy is limited to carbs. Pastries, breads and sometimes cheeses. This hotel has a wide variety of pastries and breads but it also offers eggs, sausage, bacon, fruits, cheeses and hams, several cereals, juices, milk, tea, coffee, and it is all you can eat. If you have a hearty breakfast, it will carry you until late afternoon. With all the walking you do in Rome, you don't have to worry about burning all the calories you consumed with breakfast.

The street is a little lonely as it is a one way street and turns into another one way street that takes you to the Vatican. However, it was very safe at all times.

There are plenty of restaurants at walking distance. There's a pizza joint in front of the hotel. I would not recommend it unless you order something different than the cold pizza he has sitting there for hours. There's also a small "Mexican" restaurant across the street and next to the pizza place. I don't recommend it either. Besides not being authentic, it is super overpriced. I mean, 9 Euros for a salad, and that was the cheapest main meal in the menu. if you go down to the main street out of the hotel's street and you turn left, you will get to a small charming piaza with another sandwich and pizza place. The sandwich place has all of the sandwiches in English, so that gave us a bad vibe. There's also a gellateria in that little plaza, Gellateria Millenium. I went there and bought Gellatos almost every night there and spent time at the little plaza with the locals. It was a nice experience. Across that street from that plaza is the Metro Station.

I won't even get into how close the Vatican is because you must have read it throughout the reviews. This hotel is a little gem with all the great services in the hotel and the community. I felt that you get to experience more the life of the locals near this area than closer to the tourist attractions, which by the way, are not as far as you might think. I was able to walk to The Pantheon, the Spanish Steps and Trevi fountain from the hotel in one day.
By the way, in Rome, a lot of people are rude and do not offer good customer service (I experienced that beginning at the air port when the passport agent closed the window with a huge line behind us and didn't even give an explanation). After that, it is only nice to come to this hotel and be received with warm smiles and courteous treatment. It was very appreciated.

The only hiccup I can think about the hotel is the internet. Not as reliable as other places but that's nothing compared to all of the good things they offer.

We are very happy for your positive comment. Certainly our position, close to the Vatican and ten minutes from the city center allowed not to lose the beauty of a city rich in history as Rome.
Your appreciation to the staff so attentive to all the needs of our guests makes us very happy.
We always try to achieve this goal and one of the ways we can achieve it is to have a choice in every field so we offer several products on the breakfast buffet that you have appreciated so much.
It Is also a pleasure to know that you have liked your room, so clean and confortable.

Hoping to welcome you in the future!

Kind regards

This was my second visit to the Best Western Springhouse and I was very pleased. The hotel was very clean, friendly and a helpful staff along with a nice breakfast. Others have mentioned it is within a short walk to the Vatican, St. Peter's, Vatican Museum and the Metro. As a solo traveler my first concern is safety of the hotel and the surrounding area and wifi to connect with home. The Springhouse was great in these regards and I was able to come and go with ease. Arriving early before check in, I left my bag at the desk and headed to the Papal Mass at St. Peter's. Upon my return my bag had been delivered to my room. There are several restaurants near by and a market for other items.

This is the third time we have stayed here. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else! It's immaculate, great breakfast, so handy to the Vatican and the Hop On Hop Off busses, great places to eat, etc. We opted for a deluxe room this time and it was perfect - a beautiful balcony with a view to the Vatican. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

We stayed at the Best Western Springhouse during our short trip to Rome. The hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Our room was tiny and the bathroom even smaller... But adequate.

Breakfast is decent and the staff there were always smiling and friendly.

The wifi didn't work so well in our room but the signal is pretty strong in the hotel lobby.

The hotel location is really good especially if you want to go to the Vatican (it's a very short walk away). It is also very close to the metro station. We walked out at night and did not feel unsafe in any way.

The only downside to the location is that the hotel is located across the river from the old city so it is not as easy to get to the colosseum and its surrounds.

In terms of value for money... I think this is probably as good as you will find in Rome. Hotels are generally expensive there. This place is not cheap and you get what you pay for but it's clean, comfortable, friendly and safe... What else do you need?

Your appreciation to the staff so attentive to all the needs of our guests makes us very happy.

The reception is open 24 hours for all your needs. If you had notified, we would have given you a larger room of a different type. All typologies of rooms are not always available but whenever there is the possibility it is always a pleasure for us to do a small upgrade.

We do hope to welcome you again in the future!

I want to give a special thanks to the staff that helped us so much during our stay on the 22nd and 23rd of September. My parents were both in wheelchairs and we were a group of 6 people including them. The staff accommodated everything for us to feel 'at home'. They served us breakfast/dinner/tea on the first floor so my parents wouldn't have to go down the stairs, the choice of the rooms was perfect and they assisted us in every possible detail that we needed help with. My congratulations to the staff and the hotel should be proud of having them! My husband and I will definitely stay there again and recommend the hotel to our friends!!! Thanks once again.

This hotel has a very friendly staff, but suffers from lack of quality maintenance and it is in an area that is becoming quite dodgy. We have stayed here on several occasions because of its proximity to the Vatican, as well as there are some very good restaurants located nearby. However, our last stay there will be our last. The air conditioner in our room was not working properly and we informed the front desk. We were in the hotel for 5 nights and it was never fixed. Instead, it began leaking water all over the floor, which we also reported, and it was not fixed. The rooms are very small and it is sometimes difficult to sleep due to the noise on the streets outside the hotel.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for posting a review regarding your last stay at the Spring House Hotel and thanks for pointing out the friendly attitude of ou staff: We are proud of them.
I am very sorry to hear that you found this stay as not as comfortable as the previous ones in the past.
We do care about our guest and we try to satisfy every request and to fix any problem and am sure that during your stay you have been offered a new room as am sure that the technician has been called as soon as you reported the problem ( This is one of our skill and daily procedure: a prompt problem solving to assist our guest in any little issues might come out during their stay)
Regarding the area: it is a very safe neighborhood and not dodgy at all. Plenty of shops during the day and many good restaurants close to the hotel. It might seems to be less lively in summer time as many residents go away for their holiday but never unsafe. Even rooms facing the street are quite.
We do really hope that you will change your mind in order to give us again the possibility to host you in the future and deliver a better service.

The hotel is so just behind the Vatican and within a short couple blocks to the Metro. While the front of the hotel is not very appealing, the rooms were a good size by European standards and we were lucky enough to have our own terrace.. We thought the terrace pictured was for all the customers, so this was a bit of a disappointment, however having our own little balcony was even better! Hotel staff great, very helpful and patient which we were grateful for. The rooms were kept very clean and even had dual outlets for those of us US citizens who may not have brought the adapters. The restaurant was tiny, 5 tables and slow service, but the same restaurant handles all the room service, so we could not complain..very affordable meals and quite good. All our needs were more than met and the staff even tried to help obtain a refund of a lost 10euro the Metro machine ate! I would surely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice reasonable place to stay and want to be close to the Vatican. The buffet breakfast Is available from 7 -10 and has a full complement of food and left us quite full/content!

Room Tip: ask for terrace or top floor which offers a nice view.
