Super friendly, helpful, and accommodating staff (specially the guys). Both guys speak perfect English and go out of their way to help you. The girls also try very hard and when they don't understand you or don't know the answer to the question, they try finding you answers.
The hotel itself is like most Roman buildings, a little outdated and small but very cozy. The rooms are immaculately clean and the service staff makes sure the room is spotless by the time they're done. I stayed at this hotel for 10 days in October and I had no problems. Although I read in some reviews that some showers are small, I did not have that problem. We didn't need the AC that much, since it was October but it worked well. The room came with a small refrigerator and a coffee maker and the staff made sure we had sugar, coffee and tea, in case we needed to make some.
The breakfast is what makes it a truly Westerner's heaven. Breakfast throughout Italy is limited to carbs. Pastries, breads and sometimes cheeses. This hotel has a wide variety of pastries and breads but it also offers eggs, sausage, bacon, fruits, cheeses and hams, several cereals, juices, milk, tea, coffee, and it is all you can eat. If you have a hearty breakfast, it will carry you until late afternoon. With all the walking you do in Rome, you don't have to worry about burning all the calories you consumed with breakfast.
The street is a little lonely as it is a one way street and turns into another one way street that takes you to the Vatican. However, it was very safe at all times.
There are plenty of restaurants at walking distance. There's a pizza joint in front of the hotel. I would not recommend it unless you order something different than the cold pizza he has sitting there for hours. There's also a small "Mexican" restaurant across the street and next to the pizza place. I don't recommend it either. Besides not being authentic, it is super overpriced. I mean, 9 Euros for a salad, and that was the cheapest main meal in the menu. if you go down to the main street out of the hotel's street and you turn left, you will get to a small charming piaza with another sandwich and pizza place. The sandwich place has all of the sandwiches in English, so that gave us a bad vibe. There's also a gellateria in that little plaza, Gellateria Millenium. I went there and bought Gellatos almost every night there and spent time at the little plaza with the locals. It was a nice experience. Across that street from that plaza is the Metro Station.
I won't even get into how close the Vatican is because you must have read it throughout the reviews. This hotel is a little gem with all the great services in the hotel and the community. I felt that you get to experience more the life of the locals near this area than closer to the tourist attractions, which by the way, are not as far as you might think. I was able to walk to The Pantheon, the Spanish Steps and Trevi fountain from the hotel in one day.
By the way, in Rome, a lot of people are rude and do not offer good customer service (I experienced that beginning at the air port when the passport agent closed the window with a huge line behind us and didn't even give an explanation). After that, it is only nice to come to this hotel and be received with warm smiles and courteous treatment. It was very appreciated.
The only hiccup I can think about the hotel is the internet. Not as reliable as other places but that's nothing compared to all of the good things they offer.
