Best Western Globus Hotel

At first glance, the hotel is nice. The balcony is a nice touch and the AC makes the room really cold, there are restaurants and gelato shops within walking distance, and the walk to the metro isnt terrible. That's about all that's decent in this hotel. The towels smelled like glue, the toilet water smelled like rotten eggs, we had ants all over our room and the balcony doors didn't lock. We ate at the hotel restaurant once ($15 euro pp) and it wasn't good. Food didn't have any taste and although its a buffet, there isn't any variety. Its located on a really busy corner with traffic zooming by and this hotel has NO private parking. We searched for parking for 20 minutes and got lucky to find someone pulling out of a space close by the hotel. The rooms have no microwave or iron & ironing board. You have to request an iron and ironing board from the front desk, and when I did, i waited 30 minutes before requesting it a second time. It took 20 minutes at that point for it to be delivered. Hotel staff start cleaning at 8 in the morning, so the one morning my husband and I tried sleeping in, we were disturbed by hotel staff about 5 times, trying to enter the room. Completely annoying. This hotel doesn't understand that people who visit are on vacation, and need things like irons & sleep. We do plan on visiting Rome again but we definitely do NOT plan on staying here.

Room Tip: There is NO private parking. You have to park on the street, if you can find a spot.

We stayed here the one night , after traveling by train to Rome from Salerno. Chose this hotel as it was advertised as being close to the Termini. In fact it was 5 bus stops on the 310 bus. However on arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff who spoke English. Our room was spotless, roomy and very well appointed. We had a small balcony and a separate dressing room. Breakfast included in the price was delicious and had lots of choices. We would be happy to stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony. Lovely watching the world go by.

Situated away from the centre of Rome, near the university this 3 star hotel is basic.

Rooms are adequate, well the 3rd one we tried was, Staff were reluctant to move us saying the hotel was full but after gentle persuasion moved us twice.
The walls are wafer thin and you can hear the next door room quite clearly.
Mattresses are poor quality and thankfully we had walked so much during the day we did manage to sleep.
Bathroom is basic and small , if you are over 6 ft tall then you will have problems with the shower.
Wifi is slow and unresponsive but free.
Breakfast was in a small school canteen noisy room and was a bit of a struggle to find a seat and food that was not stale.
The hotel is situated on a main road and the windows do not block out the constant traffic.
Other than a good ice cream shop facing the area holds no surprises and is run down and unattractive.
A half mile walk to the train station takes you 2 stops to the centre of Rome.
If you are looking for a good hotel on a budget ...look somewhere else as this place in July is not a good hotel or cheap.

There is virtually nothing redeeming about this place. The location is terrible, unless you need to be at the university campus.

It's far from all the tourist attractions, and the price is not good enough to justify the commute. It's located on a very noisy street but there are no restaurants or amenities nearby to speak of. The dinner buffet is horrible- don't even bother. We felt very isolated from the beauties of Rome, bothered by the noise day and night, and frustrated by the reception's indifference to the minor requests we made (like getting our room key fixed).

I've stayed at a few places in this area for work and the Globus is my favourite so far. I like the modern decor, the comfortable bed and the free, fast wifi. My room had a balcony, but the bathroom needed renovation; my colleague downstairs had no balcony, but a beautiful, brand-new bathroom, so I guess you make a trade-off. The aircon was a bit quirky, but maintained my room at a pleasant subarctic temperature during 32 degree heat. I did hear two guests complaining bitterly that their aircon did not work, and the reception staff seemed impatient with these complaints. The room and hotel are kept very clean and the housekeeping staff whom I met were very pleasant. My favourite aspect of the hotel, however, is by far the breakfast. I stayed five nights and never tired of the choices on offer, the cappuccino, the scrambled eggs, the pastries, the blood orange juice on tap...The location is no problem once you figure out the public transport options. The hotel is very close to a tram stop that will take you through the city to the Vatican. Bologna metro and Tiburtina rail station are just under 10 minutes' walk away. The Viale delle Provincie nearby has plenty of food and drink options. Overall, I would be happy to stay here again.

This hotel is just in the University area, I have been here because I have to do a half a day lesson to university Phd's and I needed a very closer location. Standard is the average best western standard you can find everywhere but the breakfast was very nice and internet was free. Nice bathroom as well (Indipendent shower - not in a bathroom - with window instead of cloth, for mis this is important! ;) Nice staff as well.

Overall this is a great 3-star hotel property - no complaints there. They were able to graciously accommodate our family of 5 (young kids) in a relatively large double bed room. Not many views but you're never in the hotel room long enough.
The hotel is located near the University section and there are a couple of bus lines that come close to the hotel. The closest metro stop (Policlinico) is a good 1km walk (5-7 brisk walk). Not too far from the Termini station (5 mins by bus or taxi).
The lobby is spacious and inviting for a small hotel like this. Reception staff is helpful with tourist ideas and finding out about things for your from the internet. Daily coffee, water, pineapple juice and light biscuits complimentary in the lobby - nice touch. Two elevators (although one seemed to only go down :) which is good because they are NOT that big in Europe (we are very spoilt in the U.S.).
Rooms are spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms well-appointed. Shower is large enough compared to others I used in my 10-day vacation in Italy and France. Complimentary breakfast is run-of-the-mill continental with two hot items (usually scrambled eggs and breakfast meat) - but the pastries, dessert and bread choices are plentiful. I wish one could pay a bit more and order made-to-order omelettes or waffles because you can sick of the continental. Not that many choices right outside the hotel for food either, but there's a LOT in Rome.
Enjoyed our stay here but would probably choose a hotel closer to tourist attractions or the metro next time.

Room Tip: Higher floor better just for noise levels.
