I was pleasantly surprised when I first saw our room at Hotel Barberini. From photos I was expecting a rather tired looking room but it was quite charming and fresh. Everything was clean and comfortable and the staff were helpful. The room wasn't big but it was enough for our needs. The only problem we experienced was that the walls appeared to be thin and we could hear people talking, doors closing, etc in neighbouring rooms. However this wouldn't stop me from staying there again or recommending it. Breakfast was good - the only downfall for us was that there was no bread available for toast but there was plenty of variety on offer. The hotel was in a good location with all the hop on/hop off buses stopping just around the corner. It was an easy walk to both the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. We had no trouble finding places to eat - not the best that Rome has to offer but adequate to finish a day of sightseeing.

Dear Guest,
We appreciate your review and we are glad to learn that we have ridden out your expectations, becoming part of your pleasant stay in Rome.

Concerning your advice about bread to be toasted, we removed the toaster from our breakfast buffet due to “unguarded” people and we provide toasted bread upon request.
We have noticed indeed, that nowhere is mentioned that. Our fault!

We are looking for your next stay in Rome,
Kind Regards

When we arrived we were told we had been upgraded to a suite which had a lovely balcony and large sofa. The room was spotless, beds were comfortable and considering the location it was very quite. The breakfast room on the 6th floor was a wonderful addition to our stay with views as far a the Vatican! The breakfast was the best of its type I've had in Italy. The staff were very friendly, just a shame they didn't have a room available when we returned from Naples.

We stayed at the Barberini Hotel in Sept 2013. The room/bath was small, but clean & comfortable. The hotel itself is very attractive & eating on the rooftop terrace can't be beat. The view from the terrace is amazing & the breakfast buffet offered has great variety & great taste. I wanted to cry the last morning we were there because it was the last time I could eat the amazing Nutella filled pastry that I'd become addicted to!! The staff was very nice & spoke good English - they were very attentive to our requests for assistance - they helped us finalize a tour that we had booked ahead of time, they booked a car to take us to the airport & even let us sneak up into the terrace for the buffet breakfast about 15 minutes early so we could eat before we left for the airport. The thing I found amazing was 1 morning I had asked the front desk man where to buy batteries...when I returned that afternoon, hours later, the same man was on duty & upon seeing me inquired if I'd been able to find the batteries. It's a small thing but I couldn't believe he'd remember that! To me that's an example of good service. The location was quiet, safe, & so convenient - very close to a Metro station & if you're like us & walk everywhere - very convenient to so many of the sites - Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Torre Argentina Cat Sanctuary (for the cat lovers out there), & the Spanish Steps. The walk to the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Roman Forum, & Vatican City were very doable as well - in fact it was nice because you got to see sights on the way, whereas you wouldn't see anything if taking the Metro. The hotel is expensive, but considering the safe, convenient location, the wonderful breakfast, helpful staff, & clean, comfortable rooms, I would stay again.

First of all - the hotel is located in a PERFECT location! Close to everywhere, all the must sees here in Rome. There is only breakfest, and it's very food, the only thing that's missing is more vegtabales. The room is small but super clean and comfortable - the bathroom is new and well maintained. The hotel staff is very helpful. All and all - a highly recommended hotel!!!

The room was small, but nicely designed. We were booked for a cruise after our four night stay here and there was little storage space for all our luggage. However, it was an easy walk to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Metro, and a good variety of cafes and gelato shops. A grocery is just down the hill for snacks, water, beer and wine. A breakfast buffet is included; it provides a good selection of fresh fruit, cheeses, meats, cereal, pastries, yogurt, etc. It is served on the hotel's top floor, providing a wonderful view of the City from a very comfortable dining room.
The bed was a bit hard for me, but others may see this as a plus. Staff were courteous and very helpful when assistance was needed. We appreciated the courtesy umbrellas left by the door on a very rainy day, since we had not packed any. I appreciated being able to open the very large windows in our room. The front desk staff helped us book a competitively priced car service to the port. The driver was pleasant, arrived on time, and his Mercedes sure beat the transportation we took from the airport.
This is a City location, with narrow, hilly, cobblestoned streets. For this reason, this hotel does not have specatacular views from the rooms but what it provides in convenience and ease of travelling by foot or by train to all the sites in Rome more than makes up for this.

Room Tip: Do not expect much in the way of storage space in the rooms, if you are travelling with a lot of luggage. If you want ice, call the front desk and they will have it delivered to you fairly quickly.
