“Nice hotel, great location”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

We debated many hotels but landed on this one due to reviews and location. It is perfect. If you only have a few days in Rome (or even if you have a week+), this is a great hotel to stay at. The room was very nice. The staff were very helpful. The breakfast was a great perk. And the location was perfect! A ton to see nearby and we easily walked to most of the major attractions because this was so central. We'd stay here again, not question.

We've traveled to Rome every December for the past 10 years and while tempted to find a place we like and stick to it, we've generally ventured to explore as many places as possible. Our criteria are simple: location, atmosphere and comfort. The Nazionale excelled in all three. The desk staff wasn't particularly "friendly" but when I remind myself that I am not there to establish life-long relationships, I am able to better appreciate what the hotel offers. The location is perfect--if you're not interested in having a subway stop close by (which we weren't--Rome is lovely for walking around!); the atmosphere of the hotel was quite inviting (our room had a spectacular view! We're asking for the same room if/when we return). And, the room (bed, shower, heat) was quite comfortable. Room and bathroom were quite ample. We were able to find a significantly discounted price for our stay--which is why I'm giving this a 5 stars rating. I would definitely book this hotel again at their discounted rate.

We were a family of 5 and stayed 6 nights.
The location is just perfect. The hotel is located near the Parliament, within a walking distance from all major attraction of Rome center.
We got room 402 (double) and room 403 (triple), which were roomy and very nice. Both rooms were quite, both during day and night.
Hotel staff was very nice and helpful. The assisted with recommendations, reservation. Transportation guidance and so on.
Breakfast was very good, although when in the side room we always had to wait very long for the waiter to order the coffee.
The Wi Fi was quite a headache. Not only it was not free (€10 per day), you had to renew it every 24 hours….
All in all – we certainly can recommend this hotel.

The hotel is very good situated. We had a good service, very good breakfast. A minor negative issue was that we had a policecar stationed next to the hotel (security for the parliament) which car kept its motor running all night.
We loved our stay and would recommend it to everyone.

My family of three (including our 5-year-old daughter) just returned from a month in Europe. We started in Rome at Hotel Nazionale and what a great start. We had the hotel arrange pick up at the airport - flawless! I had corresponded several times with Loretta asking some questions and getting some information about the area. She was not only quick to respond but her answers were detailed, helpful and courteous. Our room was beautiful. We had an amazing view, plenty of room for our daughter, clean, quiet and a lovely bathtub! The staff were top notch. We loved the dinner recommendations, their promptness and friendly demeanor. Most of all we love how they welcomed our daughter. She LOVED the staff. She actually made a picture for the bellman, shared her stickers with all of them, and would ask throughout the day when we were going back to the hotel so she could see her new friends. The location was fantastice - walking distance from EVERYTHING! The breakfast was delicious and plenty of variety. We look forward to returning to Rome mostly so we can stay at Hotel Nazionale again.
Many Many Thanks,
The Foxes,
Stephen, Amanda and Hayden

We stayed here for 3 days prior to our cruise in November 2012. Our room was beautiful and clean. The continental breakfast was wonderful and the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is centrally located. We were able to walk to the Coliseum, the Vatican, Trevi Fountain, etc. We look forward to returning in the future.

One year ago we stayed a bit outside the central parts of Rome and promised ourselves we'd never do that mistake again. So, this year we booked Nazionale and it couldn't be any better. A decent sized room (304) with possibility to put away the suitcases and windows towards the side alley. A large bathroom with bath/shower. A large security box and a well filled mini-bar as well. Clean and well kept. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Great breakfast with anything you could wish for. There's a locked luggage room and you'll get a receipt for your bags you put there.

Location: you're in the middle of it all! If you want to go by bus somewhere you walk 200 meters to Via del Corso or 500 meters to Corso Vittorio Emmanuele II / Area sacra.

I only have two negative things to say and those are:
1. Internet should be free. It's 2012 for crying out loud! Yes, there is 1 free hour per day (10 EUR for 24h) but it's just annoying to have to deal with that every time you want to check something.

2. The side alley can be rather busy until after midnight. And in the middle of cold nights the carabinieri guards will start their diesel jeep and run the motor all through the night (the parliament is neighbour of the hotel). Ask for a room facing the piazza instead.

I'll be back!
